NBA star to crowd: Election day ‘is the most important day of our lives’

CLEVELAND - On his home court, LeBron James tried to swing some votes toward a guy who loves to play basketball nearly as much as he does.

The NBA superstar hosted a free concert Wednesday night by Grammy-winning hip hop star Jay-Z for Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama, a former high school hoop star who still enjoys lacing up his sneakers and playing ball when he isn’t on the campaign trail.

Nearly 20,000 fans filled Quicken Loans Arena for the “Last Chance for Change” rally, which began after Obama’s 30-minute TV ad was shown on a giant screen above the stage.

Wearing a black leather jacket, baseball cap and huge diamond chain in the shape of Ohio, James encouraged the crowd to participate in next week’s election.

Don’t listen to his “music” or watch his sport. Could care less what they think.

If LeBron campaigns as well as he played Tuesday night, McCain has nothing to worry about.

It think it’s a little strange Obama got ripped for his relationship with Wright but gets a pass for hanging around with these clowns. What they say on their albums and such is a lot worse than what Wright says.

I am agreeing with you Jay Z and Lebron. Get out and vote but not for the false messiah, the most corrupt candidate ever to run for the White house. I am showing you my support with my three middle fingers. Pay special attention to the longest one.

No mention in the article of all the “N-bombs” Jay-Z dropped on the crowd....West Side “N-words” in da house. East Side “N-words” in da house. All to raucous cheering and whooping it up.

I must say that my respect for black Americans has dropped precipitously over the course of this election. How could they support someone who doesn’t share their moral values (most of them profess strong Christianity)? It’s clear they’re voting for Obama merely because he’s black and because they think it will help THEM rather than America. That’s selfish and downright wrong.

And Hollywood blacks are the worst amongst them. There’s plenty of white celebrities for McCain (Stallone, Norris, Voight, etc) but have you heard of any black celebs for McCain? Of course not.

I wonder if Jay-Z and LeBron’s financial advisers think Obama is the best candidate for them?

McCain had Brady Quinn along with another current Browns player on stage with him in Ohio last week.

A lot of blacks seem to think that they’ll share power with Obama. A lot of Hollywood idiots think they’ll share power.

LeBron James has a baby out of wedlock already and Jay-Z is a rapper, so naturally they support someone who is ‘cool’ and doesn’t judge them.

They’re all about being ‘cool’ and hip and Obama caters to that sensibility, like Clinton. Like Clinton, Obama is playing them like a violin.

These guys are dying to part with their hard-earned money. Why don’t they give it directly to charity instead?
