To: Drumbo

Forgive my ignorance (and intellectual laziness), but would a “fairness doctrine” be able to apply to Satellite Radio? Are Sirius/XM radio governed by the FCC or does the fact they are “satellite”/premium change how they are governed? (Much in the same way HBO versus ABC?) ....

Nope - The Congress can only legislate the “publicly owned” airwaves AM/FM/VHF/UHF. At least that’s what the law was when I got my FCC Class B broadcast license *mumble* years ago ..(Thanks to Rush).

So far, privately owned satellites, cables and Internet IPs are out of the FCCs reach ... (although the Internet is becoming more “grey-area” everyday as those in power in Congress, lust for more.

Of course, if private ownership goes out the window with some new “share the wealth” socialist redistribution, all bets are off.
