WASHINGTON (AP) - Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama was less than upfront in his half-hour commercial Wednesday night about the costs of his programs and the crushing budget pressures he would face in office.
Obama's assertion that "I've offered spending cuts above and beyond" the expense of his promises is accepted only by his partisans. His vow to save money by "eliminating programs that don't work" masks his failure throughout the campaign to specify what those programs are - beyond the withdrawal of troops from Iraq.
A sampling of what voters heard in the ad, and what he didn't tell them:

I think even the media starting to get a little queasy from the 24/7/365 overdose of syrupy sweet Obama-rama.
Trying to look objective now.

Exactly. The polls are tightening and they doing a little CYA.
Some of them, like Chrissy, can’t seem to get enough.
I didn’t watch it. Rush told us not to, that we would just get mad. He said he would watch it and report on it tomorrow. I did see only a snip during a news report, however, and he looked like he was trying to set himself up in a Camp David kind of Oval Office with the desk and credenza with pictures and the windows with mullions..just like during his nomination speech when he tried to have the pillars and windows hint at the Rose Garden.
That gut is such an arrogrant putz...( can I say that? )
The author needs to get someone else to start his cars for a while.
Don't know about your newspaper but I have Yahoo as my homepage and this story is listed prominently which is surprising.
They were simply waiting for this night and now that they have reaped the BIG BUCKs from him, they feel safe to throw him under the bus, nothing to lose at this point, and they are trying to save the souls. Just my thinking.
AP faking credibility, after a year of vomitous deceit.
Go to hell, AP.
“That guy is such an arrogrant putz...( can I say that? )”
I’m never sure - but if you’re telling the truth, it isn’t slander - correct?
Precisely.
It's a sucker fake to the right, designed to establish their future arguments of objectivity for after the election.
Don't buy it.
Obama should have stuck with standing out in the rain with his blue jeans on. (If he still has them).
AP are such babies with posting rules. But, hey when it's good, it's good.
Looks that way to me, Campbell Brown chastising them twice and Bob Kerrey writing an op-ed that he went back on his word re: campaign funds in the NY Post.... I sense a slight shifting.
The MSM has decided Obama is going to lose, and they are now scrambling to resestablish their credibility with the public.
But never forget, their first loyalty was to communism, and they will do their best to enslave us in the future.
Why is he waiting to be President? Then he CAN'T eliminate programs, because the President doesn't have a line item veto, and while he can SUBMIT a budget, only Congress can pass the spending legislation.
If Obama really wanted to, he could propose a bill tomorrow. But he can't, because it's all BS. (Barack-Speak)
It doesn’t look like an official ap page, but I googled Calvin Woodward, and it appears he is an AP employee/reporter/analyst/columnist.
The Assocaited Pravda did their token hit piece on Obama so they can say they’e been “fair” to both sides. Now they can go back to bashing Palin till next Tuesday.
