Why Is George Soros So Eager to Make Massachusetts Streets Unsafe?

In August pollsters at Boston's Suffolk University said Question 2, a Massachusetts ballot initiative that would replace criminal penalties for possession of up to an ounce of marijuana with a $100 civil fine, "appears all but certain to pass," with support from 72 percent of registered voters. "The public may be signaling that pursuing small-time marijuana users is a waste of taxpayer resources," said David Paleologos, director of Suffolk's Political Research Center. "This issue suggests that there is a libertarian streak in the thinking of Massachusetts voters." Last week the same pollsters found support for the measure had shrunk to 51 percent, with 32 percent of voters opposed (up from 22 percent in August). Maybe Massachusetts voters have become less libertarian in the last two months.

“Prohibition will work great injury to the cause of temperance. It is a species of intemperance within itself, for it goes beyond the bounds of reason in that it attempts to control a man’s appetite by legislation, and makes a crime out of things that are not crimes. A Prohibition law strikes a blow at the very principles upon which our government was founded.” - Abraham Lincoln

As much as I despise George Soros, the arguments given here for keeping marijuana illegal are just nonsensical. In decades, the only negative consequence appears to be the marijuana trade, that only exists because it remains illegal.

The best personal argument against its use is that it makes a person somewhat dim. So if they are ambitious for anything, they should not use marijuana.

Other than that, it is *not* addictive, *nor* is it a “gateway drug”; and unless used along with alcohol, it doesn’t make drivers reckless. In fact, they tend to be unusually careful driving when under the influence of marijuana.

Only on the surface does it seem to be a health hazard. The long predicted explosion of lung cancer never happened, because marijuana also contains some potent anti-cancer agents.

And there is a direct correlation between parental concern and children not abusing any drugs or alcohol. Such children rarely seek out or abuse drugs and alcohol, no matter their availability.

It also makes people drive slow, and eat a lot of chips. Er, well, it did 20 years ago.

It makes me want to try and fly out an eight story window. It makes the blue flame of a stove burner look like a beautiful flower.

If that’s the case; then someone would have much much more serious problems then the occasional joint. ;)

Reember “reefer Madness” ?

It has a permanent place of honor on the Tivo. The unctious Dr Carroll character reminds me of Harry Reid.

Also, if Darth Soros is against the pot heads I may have to rethink my position on pot heads. A little.

The highest I've tried is the second floor. It was quite a flight - much more verticle than horizontal though.

And the blue flame of a stove burner IS a beautiful flower. Even for those of us with electric stoves.

One of the questions for Mass voters is to abolish the state income tax. They want the kids to come out for this and then help to stop their state, college tuition from going up.
