GOP unity yields to dissenters of all stripes

BOSTON — The Republican Party was the model of unity leaving its national convention barely two months ago. But no more.

Displaying a fracture that stands to become a clean break if John McCain loses the election next week, Republicans of all stripes and stature have broken with their party's nominee and are not only supporting Democrat Barack Obama, but trashing the GOP in the process.

Former Sen. Charles Mathias of Maryland wrote Tuesday in The Washington Post: "For me, the decision is based on the long-range needs of our country and which of these two candidates I feel is better suited to recharge America's economic health, restore its prestige abroad and inspire anew all people who cherish freedom and equality. For me, that person is Barack Obama."

Former Senator Mathias was a RINO, is a RINO, and will always be a RINO.

He is a very good example of why the RINOs must be purged from our ranks.

Although some of these pukes serve as effective "place holders" to organize the Senate or the House, they also serve the bidding of their masters on the Left to stop legislation beneficial to the people.

And, as Mathias now shows us, they later on use their Republican "coloring" and "history" to justify support for a criminal from Chicago who wants to steal all our stuff.

So good people have woken up and realized how wonderful Obama is? The evil Republican Party is cracking up and on the road to the graveyard? Why didn’t this “news” item start with “Once upon a time”?

Republicans of all stripes and stature

No, only one stripe - a big yellow one down the middle of their backs. And their only stature is that of a RINO.

Colin Powell and all of the other RINO’s are bandwagon jumpers and since they have no conviction they jump off the bandwagon if they think there’s trouble.

That is a good thing! They don’t hold to conservative principles and we don’t want them in the movement.

Ehh...old hat, they merely recycled old Vichy Republicans into a straw man argument.

Charles Mathias...welcome to the Vichy Republican list.

Chris Shays...welcome aboard.

RINOs deserting McCain. Yeah, they desert a moderate Republican for a hardcore socialist.

They can’t stand to see the Republican party and the people of that party starting to come together.

Honestly, McCain’s candidacy may be the straw that broke the camel’s back for me:

-Libertarianism doesn’t work.
-We will never get back to conservatism and small government.

Now we have liberalism & socialism sponsored by both parties, one more strident than the other. Most of it is in the name of pragmatism, a ‘principle’ used by most here to rationalize their support of McCain.

Ironically, it’s hearing the incessant call to ‘pragmatism’ here everyday that made me begin to wonder why I shouldn’t give up my principles for a philosophy of pragmatism across the board.

I would not take anything that a “republican” from Maryland says seriously - Maryland is a die hard blue state so this is just a bunch of BS - they should also be considered part of the New England elitist states although it is in the mid-atlantic - I know a lot of people here in Maryland that are scared of the big “O” and like Palin a lot! We are all voting but know the state will turn blue this election no matter what...

[He is a very good example of why the RINOs must be purged from our ranks.]

RINOs never do the important task of promoting conservative philosophy. Even in defeat, a conservative sets the intellectual stage for a later victory. All RINOs do is dilute the message and stab us in the back afterwards.
