Yesterday Sen. John McCain boosted his TV advertising units in seven key swing states Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Missouri, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Virginia, closing the gap between his advertising and Sen. Barack Obamas. On Sunday, Oct. 26, McCain ran just 331 TV ad units in those seven states 308% fewer than the 1,350 ad units Obama ran that day. But on Monday, Obamas lead in these key battleground states shrank to 113% or a margin of 1,528 ad units, after McCains campaign increased the number of TV ad units it ran in those states by 308%, to 1,353 units.
In comparison, Obamas campaign ran 2,881 ad units in Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Missouri, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Virginia on Monday. Both candidates continue to focus the bulk of their advertising on Florida, Ohio, and Pennsylvania. On Monday, McCain ran 78% of his 1,353 ads (1,057 units) in those three states, while Obama ran 73% of his 2,881 ads (2,118 units) there.
Overall, between Oct. 6 and Oct. 27, Obama placed 153% more ad units (64,917 vs. 25,630) than McCain in these seven key battleground states.

10.27.08 Nielsen: Obama Widens Swing State Advertising Gap
Senator Barack Obamas advertising in seven key swing states continues to surpass the number of ad units run by his presidential opponent, Sen. John McCain. In Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Missouri, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Virginia, Obama placed 155% more ad units (62,022 vs. 24,273) than McCain between October 6 and October 26, 2008. Obamas advertising continues to be heaviest in Florida, where he ran 18,909 ads between October 6 and October 26, outpacing McCains 5,702 ads by 232%.
In recent days, McCain has closed the gap slightly, boosting his ad units by 22% in Florida up from 4, 662 units as of October 22. In comparison, Obama increased his ad units in the state by just 19% between October 22 and 26. Well...this is interesting.
Obama is spending heavily in PA. He is obviously concerned.
McCain needs to step it up. He should not allow himself to be outdone like this.
However, I know more than a few people who are getting irritated at the constant Obama ads/magazines/stories, etc. It may backfire.
Notice what's missing? North Carolina and Nevada, for starters. I'm really surprised Obama is still pouring money into GA. But let him. McCain has to answer, not only for himself but also for Saxby Chambliss.
Honestly, of all the states listed the only one I can see Obama truly winning (don't hate me, Jay) is PA. And even that one is not looking good for him.
Georgia...Obama is only running about 10 ads per day. Probably in Atlanta to drive up the pop. vote.
*********The McCain/Palin team have always been planning and managing their resources for a 4th quarter surge.********
Exactly...keep it withing striking distance and then drop the mother load of ad buys the last few days.
In my opinion, the latest changes in polls/opinion are a good reason why early voting is not a good idea. What happened to having ‘election day’? I missed something along the line...
The McCain Pennsylvania Flip Problem
FlAttorney, SFARI co chair
10.25.08: As the National polls, I concur with other GOP colleagues that the Pennsylvania polls should continue to tighten up to election day. However, their is nothing in the data to suggest McCain can win the Keystone State without divine intervention. McCain has not won a PA poll since Rasmussens April 24, 2008 - McCain +1. This election cycle, Democrats have registered 500,000+ new PA voters. A Republican Presidential candidate has not won PA since 1988. Its been 20 years and twice Republican Governor Tom Ridge couldnt deliver PA for the GOP Presidential ticket:
Pennsylvania: Win | Loss <>* Won Nat'l Presidential Election
2004 Kerry(D) 50.9% | G.W. Bush 48.4%*
2000 Gore(D) 50.6% | G.W. Bush 46.4%*
1996 W. Clinton(D) 49.2%* | Dole 40.0%
1992 W. Clinton(D) 45.1%* | H.W. Bush 36.1%
1988 H.W. Bush(R) 50.7%* | Michael Dukakis 48.4%
------------
Pennsylvania Governors:
Ed Rendell(D) January 21, 2003 - Current
Mark S. Schweiker(R) October 5, 2001 - January 21, 2003
Tom Ridge(R) January 17, 1995 - October 5, 2001
Robert P. Casey(D) January 20, 1987 - January 17, 1995
Dick Thornburgh(R) January 16, 1979 - January 20, 1987
Republicans can say what they want about Ed Rendell but, for a Democrat, he is a good politician that knows how to shake the trees. I sincerely hope John wins Pennsylvania, but as a GOP political insider, these are the facts as I see them. This stated, only a fool tries to outguess the National voting public.
10.27.08: Why John McCain Continues to Trail Barack Obama in Pennsylvania
10.28.08: Rasmussen Markets data currently gives Obama a 86.0% chance of carrying Pennsylvania. If McCain doesn't win Pennsylvania's 21 electoral votes, he would have to run the table and win all eight of the competitive states that were held by President Bush in 2004, including Virginia, Florida, Ohio, Colorado, Missouri, Indiana, North Carolina, and Nevada. That's very, very tough for McCain to do.

Darn if those aren’t some very good ads. I like the one combining drivers licenses and social security benefits for illegals.
(Reaching for wallet.)
I’m suprised that McCain is also putting more money into Georgia. Maybe that’s why Obama is doing it — in order to force McCain to do the same.
Both are probably trying to help their party’s Senate candidate.
This election cycle, Democrats have registered 500,000+ new PA voters. A Republican Presidential candidate has not won PA since 1988.Goodnight all.
McCain campaign buys 30-second “pre-buttal” ad,
just prior to Obama’s 30-minute informercial?
