Does the United States of America Still Exist?
Townhall.com ^ | October 29, 2008 | Douglas MacKinnon

For the dwindling number of people in this country who actually believe in traditional values, it’s time to ask yourselves a question. That being, does the United States of America even exist anymore?

Our Founding Fathers envisioned a great deal when they crafted the documents that set forth the laws and boundaries that would help to govern our fledgling nation, but a mainstream media that would be almost one hundred percent controlled by the left was clearly something beyond their imagination. Should Barack Obama win this election, the socialist and draconian measures pushed by him, Nancy Pelosi, Joe Biden and Harry Reid, will surely threaten the integrity and intent of our founding documents.

One of the first steps the socialist-four will take will be to censor and ultimately silence Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Mark Levin, Laura Ingraham and all of conservative radio. By reinstituting the un-American “Fairness doctrine,” they will seek -- much like the former Soviet Union, Hugo Chavez and the Obama supporting regime of Iran -- to use any means to crush dissent and the voice of citizens who disagree with and fear their far-left policies.

Thomas Jefferson was well aware of a biased press and yellow journalism when he said, “The basis of our government being the opinion of the people, the very first object should be to keep that right; and were it left to me to decide whether we should have a government without newspapers, or newspapers without a government, I should not hesitate a moment to prefer the latter.” Two hundred and twenty-one years after he wrote those words, any reasoned and honest person would have to surmise that Jefferson would not only be horrified by the “fairness” doctrine, but chilled to the bone by a left-leaning media that willfully ignores the “opinion of the people.”

Does the United States of America even exist anymore? If it did, could a humble citizen like “Joe the Plumber” be so savaged by an Obama worshiping media simply because he dared to ask their candidate an honest and timely question about his plan to redistribute the wealth?

How much different is “Joe the Plumber” from the fictional character Jefferson Smith in Frank Capra’s classic movie, “Mr. Smith Goes to Washington?” In that 1939 film, citizen Smith comes to Washington and dares to ask an honest and timely question about an obviously corrupt business practice that involves a powerful congressional figure and his wealthy private sector enabler and puppet master.

Because of that transgression against the powerful congressional figure and his venal benefactor, Mr. Smith is immediately attacked, his background distorted, and his character assassinated. In the movie, the “Taylor Machine” uses all of its resources to smear Smith, have its own in-the-tank “journalists” manufacture and print lies about him, and have its bribed state officials look into Smith’s personal life and then prod their cronies to send out 5,000 telegrams denouncing an innocent man who presumed to ask a pertinent question.

Sound familiar? “Joe the Plumber” has been subjected to much of that and more. Wouldn’t such an attack only happen in a police state and not in the United States of America? Wouldn’t it?

If the United States of America truly existed anymore, wouldn’t one of the tens of conservative billionaires in this nation -- or a group of the hundreds of conservative multimillionaires -- buy one of these far-left media outlets and try to instill some balance in its management and editorial content? Time and again I’ve posed this question and time and again I’ve been told it’s a bad business investment.

Really? Well, to that I say if you fire all of the far-left management, editors and reporters, you would not only restore the dignity of the outlet, but cut well over ninety percent of the employees. With that massive monetary savings, you could then hire a much smaller percentage of ethical journalists and rebuild your readers and advertising base.

Should that not make sense to these wealthy conservatives, then I would ask them how their financial bottom-line is functioning under this liberal media pushed Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac economic meltdown? Beyond that, how well will that bottom-line prosper under the Obama-Pelosi-Reid mainstream media supported redistribution of wealth? At what point do these wealthy conservatives step forward?

At the end of the 18th century, historian Thomas Carlyle quoted Edmund Burke as saying, "there were Three Estates in Parliament; but in the Reporter' Gallery yonder, there sat a Fourth Estate more important than they all. It is not a figure of speech, or a witty saying; it is a literal fact ... Whoever can speak, speaking now to the whole nation, becomes a power, a branch of government, with inalienable weight in lawmaking, in all acts of authority."

If the United States of America existed anymore, could this “Fourth Estate” control almost the top one-hundred newspapers in our nation, the major networks, most of the cable networks -- including the Weather Channel, CNBC, and ESPN -- and the entertainment industry? If the nation of our Founding Fathers existed, could this “Fourth Estate” handpick and install an untested, inexperienced candidate who wishes to redistribute our wealth and worse?

There is no greater threat to our liberty and this Republic than a biased media that despises traditional values and only speaks and lies with one voice. Again, Thomas Jefferson may have said it best when he wrote, “He who permits himself to tell a lie once, finds it much easier to do it a second and third time, till at length it becomes habitual; he tells lies without attending to it, and truths without the world’s believing him. This falsehood of the tongue leads to that of the heart, and in time depraves all its good dispositions.”

If the United States of America still existed, could these lies of the left and the destruction they cause, happen with such regularity?

I love my country, but I don't like what it's becoming.

The democratic party has been completely taken over by the extreme left, who is the driving force behind the deep hatred and intolerance so evident in the last several elections.

The bad news is that there appears to be no end in sight. With the left dominating the government, the mass media and the schools and colleges, they are finally in a position to realize their life-long dream - the destruction of the American way of life replaced by their version of a socialist utopia.

And if the voters succeed in installing Barack Obama as their President, they will have taken a giant step towards that goal.

The “United States of America” is a registered business entity in the State of Delaware and in Paris, France. The 1932 Bankruptcy papers are filed away in the library in Paris that requires government cleancre to even be accessed past the front door. Yes the “company” still exists and will continue to. The idea is on life support.

I think that your post is extremely well thought out and accurate. I was having this very discussion yesterday with a conservative physician I work with. The liberal/socialist/marxist movement is very much like the slow but deliberate encroachment of radical islam.

Americans have been incrementally indoctrinated over many, many years, bit by bit, with small withdrawals of personal liberties, to the point that many of us old timers look at the current state of affairs in wonder of how we allowed ourselves to get this far off track! Recent generations are taught that instant gratification is a personal right, and our enemies, internal and external, know all too well of our impatience and feelings of entitlement. Where muslims consider strategic change in terms of decades and centuries, Americans have been taught to only think in the NOW! Damn history and damn the consequence's that shape the future. AND NOW WE'RE GOING TO PAY FOR IT!!

I don't think for a minute that the defeat of obama will fix this.....the only thing it will do is to (hopefully) buy us some time to consider ways to get back on the right track. If we don't learn from this situation that we are only a breath away from losing our country, then perhaps we deserve the hard times ahead.

It's a transformational time for this country that I love!

No.

It does not.

Not in any Constitutional REAL sense.

The GPTB have shredded the Constitution and our way of life under the table increasingly for many decades. At least the 5 I’ve been watching closely.

They are about to make it very overt.

Nationalist forces worked ceaselessly to consolidate power away from the various states and into a strong central government, particularly since the Internal War of the 1860s, a war that was substantially about this very issue.

In settlement of that war, the nationalists consolidated power by passing an amendment to the Constitution for the direct election of members of the Senate. Previously those members were elected by the legislatures of the various states.

The United States of the Constitution of 1789 no longer exists. The present Constitution lacks a 10th Amendment. It also lacks one that restrains eminent domain. The Commerce and Welfare clauses have infinite implied powers. All these factors conspire to allow the federal government any power it cares to take up. Indeed, it has even taken the power to decide who is a “person”.

It is now a Leviathan, an entity that exists for its own purposes, and whose citizens exist to supply its needs.

From wiki:

The boiling frog story states that a frog can be boiled alive if the water is heated slowly enough — it is said that if a frog is placed in boiling water, it will jump out, but if it is placed in cold water that is slowly heated, it will never jump out.
The story is generally told in a figurative context, with the upshot being that people should make themselves aware of gradual change lest they suffer a catastrophic loss. Often it is used to illustrate a slippery-slope argument. For example, many civil libertarians argue that even minor increases in government authority, which may seem less noteworthy, make future increases in that authority more likely: what would once have seemed a huge power grab, the argument goes, now becomes seen as just another incremental increase, and thus appears more palatable. In the boiling-frog allegory, the frog represents the citizenry, whilst the gradual heating of the water represents the incremental encroachment of government.

The media and academia have been effective in pursuing the objective of the Frankfurt School. They and people like Antonio Gramsci knew that it was necessary to make people ashamed of their history and traditions in order to replace their existing culture with another.

To the list of reasons let me also add the Amendment allowing the taxation of income, however the government will define it, the adoption of fiat money and the Federal Reserve. Thus government gives itself the ability to inflate the currency, to define numeric gains as “income”, and to levy a tax on such. Further, government defines “income” worldwide, so a US Person must report and pay tax on any income no matter where he worked and no matter what the source.

Leviathan has such an appetite for money that he has made his own citizens tax slaves.

The Air Force once conducted an experiment.

They took six monkeys and placed them into a cage with a ladder in the middle.

After a few days, a banana was placed above the ladder.

One brave monkey went up the ladder and grabbed the banana. When he grabbed it, the rest of the monkeys received an electrical shock.

After 5 days, 5 bananas, and 5 shocks, the monkeys quit going up the ladder.

The researchers then swapped one monkey out with a fresh ignorant monkey. The banana appeared and when he started to go up the ladder, the other monkeys beat the hell out of him.

After 3 days of this, the new monkey quit trying to go up the ladder.

Another monkey was swapped out, and another until none of the original monkeys were left.

The electrical shock equipment was removed but the monkeys still would not go up the ladder even though they had no idea why other than they would get beat up by the others if they tried. If another monkey tried, they’d help beat ‘em up.

Hence the phrase, “I dunno, but that’s they way we always done it.”

Inoctrination....ain’t it great?

It exists for those of us who appreciate the freedoms we still have!! This is a total war on Capitolism which is the engine that drives our Democracy. There is no mention of American history in this election...funny, since we are about keeping the Constitution, the Bill of Rights and the Declaration of Independence in tact. Obama hates the Constitution because he cannot control it. He is about big government controlling everyperson and every person’s money. He is as dangerous as a virus running wild. He MUST BE STOPPED NOW!!!!

There’s nothing “UNITED” about our Republic anymore. Hasn’t been since Reagan left office. You can pretty much see where the dividing line began to be drawn because of Bush 41’s inability to be elected for a 2nd term and the overwhelming popularity of Clinton for the left and independents, the radical left began to see their window of opportunity opening. The country began to divide under Clinton, but as political equilibrium will do, the pendulum swung back to the conservatives when we elected Bush 43 in a Supreme Court-tested election that most leftists still believe was stolen. Re-election in 04 was also stolen, and so, just like toddlers who have had a toy snatched from their hands, the left has sought to find a ‘mommy’ who would take the toy back and give it to them. The MSM has been the ‘mommy’ who has taken overt steps to give the toddlers on the left their toy back, because it’s theirs! WAHHHHH!

I believe it’s truly becoming a possibility that these United States may have to divide and the 232 year democratic experiment will cease. How many of us here would agree that looking across the US at the states in trouble today are the ones led by Democratic majority governments and those that are maintaining solvency are those with Republican majority governments. Can we expect any different with an overtly socialist president, congress and justice system for the next four years?

Has it become time to consider the possibility of a division of leadership philosophy? Let’s let the leftists have their blue states, and let’s take our red states, kick out the federal government that’s been nothing but reckless and negligent with our future, and see which side lasts the longest. We know with the left’s tax and spend policies, no businesses would dare base in their ‘country’ and soon they’d have no one to tax but the poor. They wouldn’t have any money to support a defense, so it would be relatively easy to use the defense of the red states (because we know all the defense programs would stay with the red states)to overthrow their silly puppet government. And then, we could get our country back.

I suppose it’s going to take letting the uneducated, ignorant masses living in a leftist government before they understand the flaws in that way of life. Let’s let them. I’m for taking my country back however we need to do it(through peaceable means, of course).

This election is the last, desperate gasp of the “1968’ers” in this country. They are the old hippie radical left that Obama is a true poster child for. Marxist, anti American racists who wish to see this country destroyed.

Why is it their last gasp?

It is ALL about the Supreme Court. They have tried for decades to get their agenda rammed through in a variety of ways and the only way that has been somewhat successful has been through Supreme Court rulings. See Roe v. Wade for the first and biggest example of that one.

There are 2, possibly 3 justices that want to retire and the Democrats want to make sure they can stack the Federal courts and the Supreme Court with their like minded “fellow travelers”. Once they do that they can then bypass the will of the people as expressed by the legislative and executive branches of government and with carefully crafted lawsuits then proceed to rip up the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. The only way to rescind a Supreme Court ruling is with a constitutional amendment and that requires 38 states to do and that would be almost impossible to get done-see Roe v. Wade for that one.

If they can stack the court it will take at least 20 years to “unstack” it and by then the damage they will do will be irrevocable.

This country is changing rapidly. One in 8 is foreign-born, the highest it has been in over 80 years. In a decade, it will be one in 7, the highest in our history. And by 2050, it will be one in 5. The question is can we assimilate such numbers and still retain a national identity and fealty towards its values and ideals. I thnk not.
