I wonder if there are a lot of PUMAs telling pollsters that they’re voting for Obama, when they intend to vote for McCain?

Brilliant.
An additional step should be that the parties restrict voting in primaries to those who were registered in that party before the last election.

That might unduly restrict move-ins I think. We are a mobile nation and I think that needs to be considered. I do think that closed primaries are absolutely necessary.
