Mixed feelings. I really got a kick out of the ire that I know his show must have created inside of CNN.

Perhaps he will now displace Bill O. Glenn Beck is has the best show on TV.

NEW YORK —  Conservative commentator Glenn Beck is leaving CNN Headline News for Fox News Channel, where he will host a weekday show at 5 p.m. starting next spring.

Beck will also do a weekend show. His daily radio show is heard by nearly 7 million people, ranking him fifth in popularity behind Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Michael Savage and Laura Schlessinger, according to Talkers magazine.

He sensed growth opportunities at Fox, which appeals to a more conservative audience and has many more viewers than CNN Headline News. Although he won't be in prime time, he gives Fox some bench strength in case there are any changes to its strong prime-time lineup.

Beck said he was trying to improve as a TV host and that he appreciated the chance to have Fox News chief Roger Ailes as a mentor.

"Roger felt that I had a real good sense and gut for what the average person in America is feeling and I think that needs to be reflected on television," Beck said.

He said he wasn't sure how his talk show would be different on Fox. He's also unclear how long he will remain on CNN Headline News' schedule now that he's a lame duck.

Fox currently has a political show with rotating hosts at 5 p.m. The network is also due to lose the host for its 6 p.m. newscast, Brit Hume, who is taking on a part-time role after the election. Fox hasn't said who will fill Hume's time slot.

Beck's departure is a blow for CNN Headline News, which first broke its continuous, half-hour newscast format in 2006 by starting Beck's show. It was an instant sensation, and led the network to launch another talk show with Nancy Grace, which now outrates Beck.

"I was such an island over at Headline News," Beck said. "I had to bring my own audience, where I think there are a lot of people tuning in for comment on the day over at Fox."

Beck's CNN Headline News show airs at 7 p.m. EDT and is repeated at 9 p.m. The network is about to replace the 9 p.m. rerun with a rerun of Lou Dobbs' CNN show, but Beck said that had nothing to do with his decision to leave.

"Glenn has been a terrific employee and colleague to many of us at CNN," said spokeswoman Janine Iamunno. "We wish him well."Beck leaving CNN Headline News for Fox News

I like Beck. Sorry to hear he’s slumming it with Fox.

Glenn Beck is hilarious. I love his sarcasm and when he mocks his wife’s voice.

Apparently his Insider newsletter has almost as many subscribers as the NYTimes...not too shabby and much better reading.

That CNN let him go given his huge ratings growth is proof that they cared less about money earned that ideology presented.

Assuming that Fox hasn’t been “Fairness-Doctrined” out of business by then, I hope that Glenn’s slot causes that stupid Red Eye show to be cancelled. I go to History or NG Channel if that’s on, if not then to sleep. It is worthless. Glenn, OTOH, I’d stay up to watch on re-runs (’cuz I’ll never be home in time to watch it live).

Scared of the fairness doctrine. My wife’s theory is that he doesn’t want to be CNN’s token conservative when it hits.

Go ahead...call me paranoid...
But I can’t help but wonder if The Head Honchos of CNN decided that
the last thing they needed was to have Glenn Beck on CNN/Headline News
during the crucial last days of Election ‘08.

So that the top-dogs of CNN wouldn’t risk being DIS-invited to the
Limousine Liberal Cocktail parties in case The ObamaMessiah is
NOT elected to be President of The United States of America.

On October 16, 2008 it was announced that Glenn Beck would join the
Fox News Channel, leaving behind CNN’s Headline News. The new show
is set to begin in Spring 2009 and will air nightly at 5:00 PM Eastern time.

"Currently, Beck serves as the host of Glenn Beck, a talk show on CNN’s Headline News. . ."

No, he's not - not where I live, anyway. I live in Aurora, CO, and all I get is Lou Dobbs in Glenn's slot. I wondered why he was already off CNN if he's not going to be on FOX until spring. What's going on???

CNN recently silenced Glenn Beck, probably because he is revealing the truth about Barack Hussein Obama and the direction the Marxists running the Democrt party are heading.

So THAT’s where he’s at!! I thought maybe he was taking a weeks off or something. I will miss him for the next couple months. Best commentator on TV. He says he’s “not a journalist” which may be one of the many reasons I like him so much. And contrary to some very uninformed individuals on this thread, he is not libertarian, he’s as conservative as they come.

He has some excellent and informative shows. I only watched it 3 or 4 times on CNN, but will probably watch more often when he’s on FOX.
