The Crucial Endorsement [ Powell Lied About Economic 'Different Approach' Owes John McCain Apology ]
People's Daily Online ^ | October 28, 2008 | By People's Daily Online

Powell rebutted saying Obama's racial background had little to do with his vote, and it was the economic crisis engulfing the United States that had made up his mind, in addition to McCain's choice of Alaska Governor Palin as his vice presidential nominee, who he thought was not ready to be president of the United States. In a stinging rebuff to Republican candidate John McCain, Powell said the Republican nominee was a little unsure as to how to deal with the economic problems that the U.S is facing.

Powell said Obama, in contrast, had come out of recent weeks looking presidential. 'He displayed a steadiness, an intellectual curiosity, a depth of knowledge and an approach to looking at economic problems like this, and picking a vice president (Joseph Biden) that I think is ready to be president,' remarked Powell in the TV interview.

But analysts said the in-depth reason under Powell's disquiet over the Republican Party might lie in his long-term disgruntlement over the Republican policies. When in office, Powell, as the Republican veteran, was thought of 'a practical mind in diplomatic affairs, while keeping mild and neutral in political affairs.' In 2004, he was forced to step down as a result of his disagreement with the hardline political opinions held by the then vice president and Secretary of Defense. That is why his endorsement on Obama was interpreted by some Republicans as a political retaliation.

Some Republicans even said pointedly that Powell's vote for the Democratic Obama was something of 'a cup of hot milk plus a few biscuits, which could soothe the man who is suffering insomnia, as he is upset by the lack of experience to be the president.'

Powell has yet to produce any evidence that McCain changed his economic approach, in other words, he lied to inflict damage. Pretty damn disappointing being I once served under this Guy when I was a Private. A loss of confidence in his leadership ability, much like Tim Walz D-Mn, my district is represented by another Military mind gone bad. But it's due time, Powell, be a man and apologize.

Mr. Powell can no longer be accused of being a brilliant man, he is a player just like the rest of incestuous north east liberal-ville. He never learned the meaning of the word respect and filled himself with pride by alllll those that bestowed respect upon him. LET HIM GO he is not even worth talking about that is his specialty these days talking.... and he does not do it on the cheap.

Sen. John McCain talks to CNN’s Wolf Blitzer about Powell, starts at 10:55

http://www.cnn.com/video/#/video/politics/2008/10/22/tsr.mccain.interview.cnn?iref=videosearch

McCain “ All I can do is laugh, We’ve been very consistent about cutting spending, cutting taxes and the fundamentals of our economic message,

Senator Obama has been all over the place, including raisin taxes on only the rich, tax cut for 95% of Americans when 40% pay no income tax, what ever it is he’s changed look at the position he’s(Øbama) held on tax increases when he was first running in the primary, and look at them now there vastly different, and

the fundamental difference is, and may be Secretary Powell agrees with him, I don’t know, the spread the wealth around is certainly something I would never do “

Just using it to help Powell realize he needs to apologize, so no, just the second choice from a search, USA Today can’t be used

Øbama has yet to be specific, and Powell needs to be challenged by someone being the media will not do it’s job for the American people to have a fair assessment before they vote

Bama cannot be anymore specific than he was in that recently discovered tape of him plotting how to control wealth. So he outright lies about supposed tax cuts upon people that do not even pay taxes to begin with, promising welfare checks HE will bestow upon them after he steals it from the people who worked for the money.

OK that word *FAIR* has become a liberal code word. What is there to challenge about Powell he is a weak-knee liberal who has grown fat off his motivational speeches. Any man or woman who on the one hand claim they are for equal rights and then before taking the next breath claim Sarah is not competent to be President because they despise what she stands for are vacant empty suits.

Joe Biden on BHO:

“I think he can be ready, but right now I don’t believe he is. The presidency is not something that lends itself to on-the-job training.”

Powell is what he is, and apparently always has been loyal only unto himself... you think in the real world he will ever admit he lied... this is not the first lie he has promoted and I am not expecting him to stop or repent anytime soon. Of course OUR Maker is in charge and He does have His way of straightening crooked sticks.

Powell just crapped in his own bed... now he gets to lie in it.

His political career is over.

His political career is over.,/i>

We said that about Dennis Kucinich some 25 years ago. In the mid-90's, he re-entered politics and is now a Rep in the House.

YES, Rush was right on Powell..... I also remember a vast left wing conspiracy promulgated regarding yellow cake that got rumored to the media mucks as coming from certain White House employees... Sure hope Powell enjoys his ill-gotten motivational gains.

The Dhims didn't think so during the primaries, why is Biden acceptable now?

Colin Powell is a tool. By joining Obama’s camp, Powell has just shown his true colors (pun intended) to the American people. He and Obama deserve each other—they’re both just looking out for #1. On the plus side, I do so enjoy watching the left embrace Powell, whom they used to call a warmongering, civilian-killing Bush robot.

I sit stunned by all the praises of Powell by Republicans. Many seem to have forgotten how before he became Secretary of State under Bush, he said on TV that he could easily serve under Bush or Gore. I have felt from that moment that Poswell was for Powell—party nor policies mattered.

I thank him for his military service as I do all service people or vets, but as a person he doesn’t have my respect. He accomplished rank but I suspect race or fear of being thought racist has as much to do with all his praise compared to that of other races with the same rank.
