I was interviewed by NPR today - stumped the reporter!

It finally happened. A reporter for National Public Radio in Los Angeles (89.3 fm)approached me in a parking lot and asked if I would mind answering some questions about the upcoming election and politics in general.

(BIG grin!)

Her tactic seemed to be that me, a gray haired man, was comfortable with life and was settled for the future. In my profession, I didn't have to worry. Wrong. I told her that we have things to worry about, that there is always someone after our jobs and money. Politics is no different.

When she asked about the political situation, I asked her from what perspective we should judge matters? I asked her if she knew the only guarantee in our Constitution....she had no idea.

My focus went to the constitution. How it gave room to everybody. I covered Proposition 8, for people to do what you want to do in private, just don't call it marriage; that's for a man and a woman. That the USSC should have left the abortion issue to the States so the religious nutcases (yes, I did use that term) could all go to one state and leave the rest of us alone. That some states would be moderate, some would be extreme, but we would choose where to live.

When she asked about the financial crisis I was quick to point out that we were warned of this problem years ago. Go back through congressional hearings, find who said things were in trouble and who said they were ok. Lay the blame and the punishment on those who mismanaged the system.

Finally, toward the end, she asked me what the only guarantee in the Constitution was. It still IS that the Government guarantees to every State in the union a Republican form of government....etc.

I did say that many of us are not happy with our choices in this election. I gather that will be the focus of her report. We'll see.

I will let you know what was reported, if anything, when I find out. She asked for my information and permission to get back to me.

LOL! I sounds like the ‘elite NPR one’ approached ‘one of the masses’ and thought she would get the usual uninformed answers to her questions. HeeHee! She found you!

Probably not what she expected, and I hope she had her eyes — and mind —opened a bit.

The answer is in State powers. The representative part was the House, the State Appointed Senators completed the design of the Republic. There’s your representative republic.

And not only that, you’ll be edited to favor the formation of extremist states full of abortion clinic bombers.

Such terms as “Constitution” will not be permitted under the new regime, citizen comrade.

There, fixed it.

Choosing life over killing an unborn child is not being a nutcase. If anybody is a nutcase----IT'S YOU!

Well, sad to see that you think I’m worse than Obama and his acolytes.

Think again....who was I talking to? How to you make ground with them?

the only guarantee in the Constitution was. It still IS that the Government guarantees to every State in the union a Republican form of government.

Well, sort of. It guarantees that every state shall have a republican form of government. The guarantee is not to the states, but to the people, that they will not live in a state that has a state monarchy, or council of elders or a Chicago style machine.

That guarantee has not always been enforced in places like Illinois, Louisiana, New York. It is my contention that in places like MA and CA where the supreme court dictated that the state requires gay marriage, they have crossed the line from republican government to judicial fiat. But no one has tried to make that argument.

Actually, I don’t, you are of the same mind. Someone who thinks killing unborn children is ok is the same as the party of death!

I will disagree with you, as I do not believe the Constitution reads that way. From what I remember, the guarantee is made to the STATES that the national government will be republican in form. It dovetails with the disdain for Democracies by the founders and the concerns of the States that the Fed could grow because of popular power.

I’m away from home tonight. If you’d like, I’ll check further.

When I was a small child, my parents warned me to never, ever, talk to a reporter. They said at best they will misquote you. More likely they will try and make you look foolish. If you don’t say what they want, they will lie and put words in your mouth.

They will try to hurt you. They will try and hurt your family. If our family is ridden out of town on a rail based on their lies, they don’t care, except that it just means another story for them.

They will throw a brick through your window, then ask you about crime. They will falsely accuse you of a crime, so they can get a picture of you being arrested and humiliate you. They will call your friends and imply that you are a pervert, just to get their reaction.

Reporters are scum. Never, ever, talk to reporters.
