Hugh Hewitt just announced that Dean Barnett has died.
Did he announce who Dean Barnett is?
That’s so sad. It was so sudden; I had no idea.
Hopefully someone gave him an absentee ballot before he passed. we need all the friggin’ votes for McCain we can get.
Seriously, anyone in your family seriously ill or going in for surgery shortly, consider having them get an absentee ballot and making sure they get their vote in.
This is really a shame. God give comfort to his family and friends and peace to his soul.
Dean Barnett filled in for Hugh a lot....sad.
Who?
I certainly hope so. Otherwise, I can’t imagine many people affected by the loss.
Chowdah? Dang, sorry to hear that. I knew he was in hospital again, but didn’t know it was that serious.

Dean Barnett (July 13, 1967 - October 27, 2008) was an American conservative columnist and blogger and occasional fill-in host for Hugh Hewitt. He graduated from Harvard University and Boston University Law School.
In 2004, Barnett created SoxBlog, a weblog focused on conservative politics, social issues, golf and the Boston Red Sox. Barnett’s popularity led to a co-blogging roll on Hugh Hewitt’s website and eventually led to a job writing for the Weekly Standard. Barnett was a resident of Massachusetts and was a declared supporter of Mitt Romney at the time of Romney’s run for the Republican nomination. Barnett was Romney’s driver during Romney’s 1994 Senate campaign, about which Barnett wrote in the New York Times.[1] Barnett was known for his thick Bostonian accent (to which some callers reacted by nicknaming him “Chowdah”) when he filled in on Hewitt’s radio show.
Barnett suffered from cystic fibrosis, a fact he openly discussed in numerous blog posts.[2] On October 8, 2008, he was admitted to the hospital with a severe infection to which he finally succumbed on October 27, 2008.[3]
Wow wiki is fast they already posted it.
That’s sad. He had a good wit and was a fine writer. I followed him from his days at soxblog. He then moved to Huhg’s blog and finally weekly standard.
He’ll be missed. Sympathies to his family.
I am so sorry to hear that! He had been putting up a valiant fight against CF but was in very bad shape last week.
I was praying for him and will continue to do so in addition to his family.
I didn’t mean to post the actual wiki just the link and I goofed.
Sorry if that is a no no.
He will be missed.
RIP Chow-duh!
Holy moley! I’m extremely sorry to hear that. Our thoughts and prayers are with Dean Barnett and his family.
He had been hospitalized for several weeks with cystic fibrosis.
listening to Hugh Hewitt today.. He sounds very sad indeed. I really enjoyed Dean’s fill shows for Hugh..
God speed to you Dean. You seemed like a swell guy.
I know a man who is close to 90 who always votes on the first day of early voting just in case he doesn't make it to election day.
