Word is out that Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin will headline a Republican rally Thursday morning in Cape Girardeau, causing a rush on tickets in Cape Girardeau that backed up traffic at a busy intersection this afternoon.
Over 200 people were counted outside the Republican party's Cape Girardeau headquarters at 601 N. Kingshighway a short time ago. The rush on tickets is causing some traffic congestion at Kingshighway's intersection with Broadway.
Doors will open at 6:30 a.m. for the event featuring the GOP's vice presidential nominee, with the program starting at 8:30 a.m. "Governor Palin will discuss John McCain's plans to put an end to this economic crisis, create jobs that support the American dream and keep our nation secure by putting country first," the Missouri Republican Party said in a news release announcing the event.
The visit is the first to Southeast Missouri by one of the major party candidates since the national conventions in August. U.S. Sen. Barack Obama, the Democratic presidential nominee, visited Cape Girardeau in May before securing the nomination.
Free tickets are available at four Republican headquarters locations around the area from 3 to 9 p.m. and from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday until all the tickets are distributed. The location for obtaining tickets are:
Cape Girardeau County Republican Headquarters, 601 N. Kingshighway, Cape Girardeau.
Butler County Republican Headquarters, 1901A Greenwood Drive, Poplar Bluff, Mo.
Scott County Republican Headquarters, 900 S. Main St., Sikeston, Mo.
St. Francois County Republican Headquarters, 301 N. Washington, Farmington, Mo.

Rush should fly in to be with her.
That would be a beautiful sight! Maybe David will be there...I just drove by headquarters...line is longggggggg...magritte
Rush’s hometown!
A group of ladies here South of Houston had planned to got to the Palin event in San Antonio a few weeks ago but so many people were going we wouldn’t have gotten into the building. Thousands show up and line the streets as she arrives. SHe is very popular with us all.
The venue they picked here holds around 6500+ for basketball...let’s hope for a full house!...magritte
I went to the headquarters here but our tickets hadn’t arrived yet. They should be here around 5:30 so the lady took our names and will hold them. Needless to say I’ll be back their at 5:30 to be sure I get them. The parking lot was almost full and the crowds were starting to come in. Will be interesting to see what it’s like later.
She’s also confirmed to be in Erie, PA., sometime? on Thursday. I’m going. I’ll shut down my small business for the time because I can. My other employee (my wife) will gladly be in the audience and say “Use your brain, vote McCain”!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
But ABC,NBC,CBS & CNN tell me Gov. Palin will cause MeCain to lose the election?
Maybe Grandpa, Rush Limbaugh Sr. could find time!
This lady is a tireless campaigner; she was born to do what she is doing. McCain thought he knew what he was getting when he picked her; he got all that and more. She is probably working circles around everyone. She doesn’t quit, she doesn’t stop, I’d like to see the fuel bill on that bus.
She’s probably going to need a month off when this is over just to sleep. Lets hope she doesn’t get it. She may not get a day off for another 12 years.
~LOL~ to hear Peggy Noonan, Kathleen Parker and a few more Palin is dragging down McCain /s
line is about 50 deep now ... She’s SO unpopular!
what the hell is all this Palin bashing on Brit Humes show....he wonders if Sarah has been a plus or minus....blow it out buddy.....Sarah is all aces....
To use David Hackworth's phrase, the "Perfumed Princes" who head these (ptui) Obama propaganda palaces need to get their heads out of their rear ends.
Oh yeah! We’re going to be there - my sister-in-law has our tickets and I can’t wait!
We’re jealous! Is the rally at the Show Me Center?
We lived in Cape for 9 yrs. Our son and wife still live there. There are many liberals there because it is a University town, but the local folks are pretty conservative. It’s a super town, has everything you need without having to go to St Louis.
The Show-Me Center should be packed...830am Thursday...magritte
