CHILD BORN ABROAD TO ONE AMERICAN CITIZEN PARENT AND ONE NON-AMERICAN PARENT BETWEEN DECEMBER 24 , 1952 AND NOVEMBER 13, 1986

A child born outside of the United States to one American citizen parent and one non-American parent, may be entitled to citizenship providing the American citizen parent had, prior to the birth of the child, been physically present in the United States for a period of ten years, at least five years of which were after s/he reached the age of fourteen.

I know what you are saying but I thought Obama has said his mother was American and his father was Kenyan. Am I wrong on that? My birth certificate has my mother’s age on it. Is his mother’s age the issue in that she was 18 at the time and couldn’t have been in country 5 years even if he was born in the US?
