I guarantee you, I'll win: McCain
ABCNEWS ^ | 10-26-08 | Landers

US Republican presidential nominee John McCain says he can guarantee a win in next week's election, but says the result will be very close.

Senator McCain, who has been trailing Democratic rival Barack Obama by more than 10 points in some national and state polls, said his campaign was "doing fine" with the polls nine days away.

"Those polls have consistently shown me much farther behind then we actually are," he said. "We're doing fine.

"We've closed in the last week and if we continue this close in the next week you're going to be up very late on election night.

"I guarantee you that two weeks from now you'll see that this has been a very close race and I guarantee you I'm going to win it."

"We are very competitive in those areas [key states] and we're going to have to just get out our vote and work very hard over the next nine days."

Later Senator McCain addressed a rally at the University of North Iowa on a swing through the midwestern state where Senator Obama enjoys a near 12-point lead according to an average on realclearpolitics.com.

As he is expected to do throughout the remainder of the campaign, Senator McCain relentlessly rammed home his contention that Senator Obama is a closet socialist hellbent on raising taxes on ordinary Americans.

The 72-year-old former Navy pilot also struck a defiant stance as he told supporters he relished the election fight.

"I'm not afraid of the fight - I'm ready for it," he stated.

He also repeated his claim - angrily denied by the Obama camp - that the Democratic nominee had already begun drafting his inauguration speech.

"What America needs now is someone who'll finish the race before starting the victory lap....'

True. But was Bush behind in all of the polls in 2000 and 2004 nine days before the election? I can’t remember.

Well McCain is not going to win Ohio if they don’t get some lawyers all over those Obama campaign people who have “moved-in” from out of state and voted. Palestra has uncovered another 13 who did NOT withdraw their votes and they report their conncections to their home states. One is from DC and just bought a million dollar property there just a few months ago.

Øbama should get out and answer them questions for himself, being he can’t rely on his running mate, and the world wants to know, Sweden wants to know, and Biden needs some coaching just in case he’s asked again

.
JC Watts is on CSPAN supporting McCain’s tax plan, saying it will create more tax payers,

Watts “Capitol won’t flow in a hostile environment”

Watts “Small business is big business”

Watts “Thank you on behalf of Senaor McCain and Governor Palin”

Face it, we are not going to win back Congress.

True, but it's not a good tactic for McCain to seem like he's trying to disassociate himself from the rest of the ticket. The message needs to be, don't give me a veto-proof Congress, elect the whole GOP ticket in your district.

Thanks . . . I couldn’t remember. I knew things looked sketchy at the end of the campaign, but I didn’t realize every poll had him down.

Namth...a childhood idol. i was lucky enough to be at the AFL championship game vs Oakland that propelled the Jets into SB III.

They won that game with a strong ground game (Snell had 120 yards) and got a few very timely turnovers. We already got a couple of key turnovers with Biden and Murtha. Strong turnout will be our groundgame.

Namath had star power and so does Sarah!

Come to think of it, Mac is reminding me more of Weeb Ewbank. ;-)

Jim Turner kicked three FGs. Joe the Plumber is our new kicker!

Check out the ones that have been posted recently, but more importantly check out the internals. Some of the polls that are averaged in at RCP were the least accurate in prior elections.

However, a trifecta of power is scary.....

Actually, it would be a quadfecta if Obama were to win (Senate, House, Executive, Media.)

Yep, had to give them my address when I got Michelle Øbama tickets for her gig in Rochester MN, I didn’t go, but they have dropped off something almost everyday since, including polling me once, kinda surprised the lady when I explained being a fiscal conservative and Democrats weren’t going to be chosen on my ballet
