Cincinnati The campaign plane touches down and John McCain emerges to the booming chorus of Eye of the Tiger and the raucous cheers of 3,000 supporters. TV cameras record every Joe the Plumber-referencing moment by the Republican presidential nominee, whose airport rally will dominate local newscasts.
At the same time, Bob Barr is making his own campaign appearance a few miles away. The Libertarian nominee for president from Cobb County is clearly outmanned about 200 people have shown up for his speech at the University of Cincinnati student center. And outspent his campaign plane, he says wryly in an interview, is called Delta. But hes definitely not outgunned, at least when it comes to taking out the opposition verbally.
I get kind of tired of hearing Sen. McCain tell us hes a maverick, Barr says as titters ripple through the crowd. In one of those debates, I would have liked to have said, OK, time out. At the very beginning of the debate, Mr. McCain, we want you to recite 50 times, I am a maverick. And well just get that out of the way.
A few minutes later, after slamming the recent government bailout of Wall Street, Barr pulls a poker face: Oh, by the way. Who was the administrations main cheerleader in the Senate during all those votes? You guessed it! Sen. John I Am a Maverick McCain .
Make no mistake about it. Barr, the former Republican congressman from Georgia, is running to be the first Libertarian president of the United States. By running squarely, defiantly, against McCain and the Republican Party he feels has lost its way.

He's gonna 'spoil' Cynthia McKinney's chances at uhh....fifth place.
Or something.
Barr relishes any relevance whatsoever.
Bob Barr thinks he’s a “spoiler”... ROFLMAO
Boob, you’re NO “spoiler”!
I said they would start dragging him out to split the vote.
He was on CNN this morning begging us to cast our protest votes against the status quo.
He’s an attention whore and complete @ss, as are those who would waste their votes on him.
This dirt bag could make THE difference in a close election.
We’re down to the election Bob. Is this going to be about “you you you”, or the nation you profess to love?
If you don’t want to support McCain, I can certainly understand that. Trying to pull people away from him into your camp is ill advised IMO.
You need to stand down and urge your followers to back the McCain/Palin ticket before it is too late.
He was always somewhat of a pathetic, buffoonish character- now he’s just a joke. He’s actually less relevant than Cindy Sheehan.
The question is if Barr can take enough votes from McCain in states that are close; Florida, North Carolina, evn Pennsylvania.
Bob Barr the bonehead. No spoilage here.
If Barr had any sense of patriotism, he’d withdraw from the race and endorse McCain immediately. However, he’s just an attention whore, like his followers.
There are a handful of suckers who will bite for this loser. He is the catalyst that will help separate the idiots from the realists I suppose.
Yeah, they both look like squares with extremist messages.
Yep.
I kept saying near the election MSM would start to give him lots of time.
I bet he’s going to start popping up everywhere.
I agree. What does this nut have to offer other than an irrelevant protest vote?
bob barr is the reason I didnt vote libertarian this election. I would’ve voted for his VP Wayne Allen Root. Barr’s ties to aclu and saying that global whoring is man caused, dont exactly fit in with libertarian views.
