Federal judge rejects lawsuit challenging Obama’s citizenship, qualifications for presidency

PHILADELPHIA October 25, 2008 (AP) The Associated Press A federal judge has dismissed a lawsuit challenging Barack Obama's qualifications to be president.

U.S. District Judge R. Barclay Surrick on Friday night rejected the suit by attorney Philip J. Berg, who alleged that Obama was not a U.S. citizen and therefore ineligible for the presidency. Berg claimed that Obama is either a citizen of his father's native Kenya or became a citizen of Indonesia after he moved there as a boy.

Surrick ruled that Berg lacked standing to bring the case, saying any harm from an allegedly ineligible candidate was "too vague and its effects too attenuated to confer standing on any and all voters."

That statement is going to stick in a lot of craws.

What Lawfirm in PA and what kind of donations does that Law firm make to the DNC or to Obama’s campaign. We need to know all about Surrick.

I know that Obama’s refusal to release his birth certificate is suspicious but I don't think it has to do with his citizenship. Unless you can prove that his mother wasn't a citizen, I don't think there is any merit to this challenge.

When we finally get hold of his birth certificate, I believe we will find that his real name is Barry and that his entire “black” persona is just a facade.

Berg has been a Hillary supporter. Obama beat Hillary in the primaries.

The rest of us will not obtain standing until or IF he gets sworn in.

No where is it written that Congress has the duty to determine the eligibility of a candidate.

He has to be a "natural born citizen" which is a subset of "citizen." The location of his birth is relevant.
