Remember Zogby is doing a 3 day tracking poll that currently shows that Obama is leading by 9.5%. Continuing along that route he might slowly reduce Obama’s lead but not get it down significantly. I have criticized Zogby harshly in the last few days for being in the tank for Obama. i still think he is. But I never said he was stupid. He sees the trends in his own state polls, he has contacts with other pollsters, he pretty well knows what the lay of the land is looking like right now and quite honestly i think he’s shocked that McCain’s ‘real’ support level has not caved in and apparently does not look like it’s about to cave in. He could do one of two things: stay arrogant and stubborn and continue to insist that McCain will be going down big time or get real and admit that this election is not over. So he had to come up with a way to convey this message without conveying the fact that the recent results of his tracking poll are insane. That’s the reason for the one day separate poll, independent of the results of the 3 day tracking poll to get his results more in line with reality for the time being. Remember he supposed to be a professional pollster. Once one’s credibility is shot, you never get it back.
