Poll: 56% favor ban on gay marriage (Florida, 60% needed to win)

TALLAHASSEE - Love it or hate it, most Florida voters have made up their minds about a ballot amendment to ban same-sex marriage. And most likely, a new poll shows, they'll vote to insert a definition of marriage into the state's constitution. An Orlando Sentinel poll released Thursday found Amendment 2 -- which defines marriage as "only one man and one woman" -- had support from 56 percent of likely voters, while 37 percent opposed it. That's barely changed from a 55-to-34 margin in a similar survey two weeks ago. The remaining 7 percent of undecided voters will determine whether it reaches the 60 percent approval threshold required to amend Florida's Constitution. History suggests it will pass because undecided voters have tended to break in favor of gay-marriage bans in other states, said Brad Coker, polling director for Mason-Dixon Polling & Research. The firm surveyed 625 registered voters Monday and Tuesday; the poll has a margin of error of 4 percentage points.

10.24.08 Miami Herald: Poll: Gay-marriage ban just short of passing
- - A majority of Florida voters back a state constitutional ban on same-sex marriage, though the level of support is just shy of the 60 percent required for approval, according to a Mason-Dixon poll released Thursday. The survey found 56 percent favor Amendment 2, while 37 percent oppose it and 7 percent are undecided. The Oct. 20-21 survey of 625 likely voters has a margin of error of plus or minus 4 percent. ''While the current support level remains below the 60 percent threshold, it still has a good shot at voter ratification,'' said Mason-Dixon pollster Brad Coker. ``In other ballot amendment and initiative votes in other states, undecided voters have generally broken strongly in support of gay marriage bans.''

There has not been one poll that gives us the 60% minimum vote required to pass Amendment 2. Please Vote Yes on November 4th and do an aggressive door-to-door campaign in your area. Florida Amendment 2 is a major Democrats-Soros Shadow Party defeat initiative. They are spreading substantial misinformation in the media to defeat this constitutional amendment. Nationally noted financial guru (and gay) Suze Orman has been spreading the same pack of lies about Amendment 2 in the National media. - FlAttorney

Another “sign of the times.” We are returning to the days of Sodom & Ghormorha. Perhaps the coming Democrat rule will bring God’s judgment on the nation with it?

How the hell can anyone think of ANYTHING BUT a man and woman. The whole thing should not be happening and the only reason it is happening is to get away with indoctrinating our kids and obtaining “financial” benefits paid for my you and me.

It's an Amendment to the State Constitution and requires 60+% of the votes.

The undecideds should give Amendment 2 the required margin. Traditional marriage support is ALWAYS understated in the polls.

In Fl we already have banned Gay marriage, this Amendment is an attempt to clarify the language of the first law. Specifically to prevent civil unions.

This is what a Lawyer told me anyway.

When we threw God’s law out of churches, we opened up our whole society to this stuff. You cannot obtain salvation through the law, only through grace! However, you can’t live among the heathen without the law. You can’t run an orderly society without it!
