I always thought it was Giancana who put out the contract on JFK.

Most people today don’t know or remember how powerful the mob was back in the early 60s. Their power was peaking but they thought it was just the beginning. And JFK was just another double-crosser to Momo.

I would agree! Gianacana — I can see that happening. I have done a lot of reading on the mafia and it was very powerful going into the early 60’s. IMHO they helped elect JFK and when he unleased his brother on them, they got mad and got even.

Possibly. The weak spot is, if it was a Mob contract, it doesn't explain why LBJ twisted the Warren Commission's arms off to return the "LHO acted alone" finding, which was baked into the cake from the start.

We know the Mob had compromised J. Edgar Hoover (or rather, he had compromised himself), but what was in it for LBJ to avoid a finding that led back to the Chicago Mob? Whereas on the other hand, anything that led back to Cuba or the Soviets would have been radioactive and could have induced men like Earl Warren and Gerald Ford (I think he was on the commission, too) to play along.
