30-Y.O. Unsolved SF Murders Reopen
[Weather Underground, Black Liberation Army, Ayers, Dohrn]

BAY AREA (KRON) -- The unsolved murder of two San Francisco police officers has languished as cold cases for 30 years until now. A federal grand jury has been looking into the murders. Many of the people now under investigation both as potential targets and witnesses in this case are scattered across the country. Many of them are now in their 50s and 60s. Investigators believe the crimes were politically motivated and committed by militant radical groups.

On August 29, 1971, sergeant John Young is killed in a barrage of gunfire when two men walk into the Ingleside police station and begin shooting at officers sitting behind the glass partition. It is the second unsolved police killing in 18 months.

On February 16, 1970, officer Brian McDonnell is killed when a bomb explodes at Park Police Station. Attorney Joe O'Sullivan, at the time was a young police officer. "It was just bedlam. I don't think we were able to get into the station. I think it was cordoned off. Nobody really knew the exact nature of the devastation," he says.

For three decades, the police murders remained unsolved. Evidence from the two crime scenes sat in the police property room.

KRON 4 News has learned that three years ago, San Francisco police secretly re-opened the case. Armed with new forensic technology and with State and Federal agencies helping, SFPD investigators began to work full-time on the murders.

And now, sources tell us, those investigators have identified potential suspects: former members of two militant groups in the '60s and '70s -- the Weather Underground and the Black Liberation Army, people who've been out of the spotlight for decades. The most prominent among them is Bernadine Dohrn, a former leader of the Weather Underground and now a law professor at Northwestern University in Illinois.

The following from wikipedia is well documented and sourced.

Sgt. Brian V. McDonnell

"In a bombing that took place on February 16, 1970, and that was credited to the Weathermen at the time,[19][20] a pipe bomb filled with heavy metal staples and lead bullet projectiles was set off on the ledge of a window at the Park Station of the San Francisco Police Department. In the blast, Brian V. McDonnell, a police sergeant, was fatally wounded while Robert Fogarty, another police officer, received severe wounds to his face and legs and was partially blinded.[21]

Weatherman leader Bernardine Dohrn has been suspected of involvement in the February 16, 1970, bombing of the Park Police Station in San Francisco. At the time, Dohrn was said to be living with a Weatherman cell in a houseboat in Sausalito, California, unnamed law enforcement sources later told KRON-TV.[22]

An investigation into the case was reopened in 1999,[23] and a San Francisco grand jury looked into the incident, but no indictments followed,[22] and no one was ever arrested for the bombing.[23]

An FBI informant, Larry Grathwohl, who successfully penetrated the organization from the late summer of 1969 until April 1970, later testified to a U.S. Senate subcommittee that Bill Ayers, then a high-ranking member of the organization and a member of its Central Committee (but not then Dohrn's husband), had said Dohrn constructed and planted the bomb. Grathwohl testified that Ayers had told him specifically where the bomb was placed (on a window ledge) and what kind of shrapnel was put in it. Grathwohl said Ayers was emphatic, leading Grathwohl to believe Ayers either was present at some point during the operation or had heard about it from someone who was there.[24]

In a book about his experiences published in 1976, Grathwohl wrote that Ayers, who had recently attended a meeting of the group's Central Committee, said Dohrn had planned the operation, made the bomb and placed it herself.[25] In 2008, author David Freddoso commented that "Ayers and Dohrn escaped prosecution only because of government misconduct in collecting evidence against them", Freddoso wrote.[24][26]

Weather Underground

Some strange links on the net on this name. I had never heard of Sekou Odinga before today. But now it does make me wonder about the connection of Bill Ayers and his Weather underground group in NYC.

From : http://texasdarlin.wordpress.com/2008/10/07/1981-new-york-city-just-a-bizarre-coincidence/

This was mined from another blog on the net but it gets you thinking about Obama’s years in New York City. Did he meet Ayer’s and Dohrn while there?

My money is that he did.

It’s 1981, New York City. Barack Obama is residing two blocks away from Weather Underground leader William Ayers. We know very little about Obama’s life in NYC during that period; supposedly he transferred from Occidental College and completed undergraduate studies at Columbia University. Obama’s academic records and, in fact, the records of his life from those years in New York are lost. [See references at end.]

At Occidental, Obama belonged to Students for Economic Democracy (SED), a radical socialist “cousin” organization to Students for a Democratic Society (SDS), of which the Weather Underground was an off-shoot. Did Obama continue his SED membership at Columbia? (I read recently that Columbia was a major SDS center.)

In 1981, former Weather Underground members along with a few former Black Panthers are arrested in association with the robbery of a Brinks armored truck 20 miles north of Manhattan. A guard is killed and the driver is wounded. $1.6 million is recovered.

One of the Weather Underground members arrested for the Brinks crime is Kathy Boudin, along with her boyfriend David Gilbert. Boudin is sentenced to 20 years-to-life. Boudin and Gilbert leave behind a 14-month-old son, Chesa Boudin, who ends up being raised by Bill Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn while his parents live in prison.

One of the former Black Panthers arrested in connection with the Brinks robbery is Nathaniel Burns, a member of the Black Liberation Army. Burns is also known as Sekou Odinga. Burns/Odinga is sentenced to 25 years-to-life for attempted murder of a police officer. (ODINGA, sound familiar?)

Obama and Ayers later end up collaborating on several controversial projects in Chicago. They work together to grant funds to Rashid Khalidi, Trinity United Church of Christ, and ACORN, among other “worthy” recipients. Ayers and Dohrn host a soirée at their home to launch young Barack’s political career. (But we’re now to believe that Barack did not know that Ayers and Dohrn created and starred in the Weather Underground, for which they were tried as criminals.)

As we often see in Obama’s history, here again there are a few degrees of separation that cause curious and intelligent people to ask: Is this just another set of odd coincidences?

I believe that Obama knew Ayers in New York City, and that he’s hiding the association with Ayers, among others, in refusing to provide information about his life there.

Obviously Obama’s campaign is lying (and insulting our intelligence) when it audaciously claims that Obama knew nothing of Ayers’ affiliation with the Weather Underground, up until…when?..(I must have missed that part of Axelrod’s explanation. When does he claim that Obama learned about Ayer’s lifelong project, the WU?)

In any event, accepting Axelrod’s explanation would require us to conclude that Obama is stupid. Really stupid, which sort of flies in the face of the magna cum laude thing from Harvard, right?

Everyone knows that the REAL questions are:

When did Obama first learn about Ayers?

When did he first meet Ayers?

What were his “off-campus” activities in New York?

Perhaps if Obama were open about his life, and did not go to such extreme lengths to cover up fundamental facts of his existence, we would not be forced to outline such events as the 1981 Brinks robbery.

This is just plain in your face as to being in the same city and the same time. Barack Obama needs to open his records from Columbia so we can see he actually was even a student there at that time. If you want Americans to vote for you Barack you need to be completely transparent. What a fraud the Democratic party has given America.

One man who is in prison for this is Sekou Odinga (given name Nathaniel Burns). He was with the Black Liberation Army who joined the Weather Underground in the Brins robbery. Odinga is also the last name of a man who claims to be a cousin of Barack Hussein Obama. Raila Odinga incited violence in Kenya after losing an election. His father was associated with Barack Hussein Obama’s father.
While I have not been able to link Obama to Sekou Odinga...I wonder about this coincidence given that Obama was in NY “attending” Columbia University at the time.
Bernardine Dohrn worked at a shop called Broadway Baby

According to a 1982 New York Times report, Broadway Baby was implicated in an investigation of a series of violent armed robberies in New York—netting more than $2 million over a two-year span—committed by former Black Panthers and Weather Underground members in the early ‘80s.

Their aim? Global revolution, naturally. They needed cash, but the rich white parents weren’t in a giving mood. So their privileged offspring grabbed guns, pointed them at the faces of the working man and, sometimes, they pulled the trigger.

At Broadway Baby, customers often paid by check and used driver’s licenses for identification. On Dec. 28, 1979, information from two customer files was used to apply for two driver’s licenses at the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles. The fraudulent licenses were used to rent getaway cars for the gang.

The manager of Broadway Baby at that time? Bernardine Dohrn. Invetigators at the time pointed their fingers at Dohrn, who is now a law professor without a license to practice law, at Northwestern University.

Dohrn and her husband, fellow academic William Ayers, turned themselves into authorities in 1980, but the rump of the Weather Underground committed its final violent act in 1981, a Brinks trick robbery that ended up with the deaths of two police officers and a security guard.

In 1982, Dohrn was brought before a federal grand jury investigating radical conspiracies linked to the New York robberies. She refused to cooperate or to provide a signature sought by FBI handwriting analysts. Dohrn was held in contempt of the grand jury and imprisoned for seven months.

“safe houses,” which the Brink’s suspects visited after the robbery, were carefully analyzed and processed by crime scene technicians. Many fingerprints were lifted and identified, which gave cops additional leads. Several other members of the Weather Underground and the B.L.A. were soon arrested in coordinated raids with local law enforcement. One Cynthia Boston was located and arrested in a ranch house in Gallman, Mississippi in late October. The ranch was owned by another radical organization called the Republic of New Africa. Although she did not actively participate in the crime, Boston was charged with conspiracy in the Brink’s robbery and held on $500,000 bail. Two other suspects, Jeffrey Jones and Eleanor Raskin, were arrested in the Bronx when cops went to an apartment to execute a search warrant. Jones and Raskin, former members of the Weather Underground, were charged with unlawful flight to avoid prosecution after cops found bomb-making material in a Hoboken apartment in 1979.

Over the next few months, the F.B.I. continued its relentless search. On January 20, 1982, the F.B.I. located and arrested Donald Weems, AKA Kuwasi Balagoon in the Bronx. Two months later, on March 26, 1982, the Joint Terrorist Task Force arrested Chui Ferguson and Edward Joseph, AKA Jamal Baltimore, in a raid on a Bronx apartment. But the main target, the man that planned and carried out the murderous carnage in Nyack, Jeral Williams, AKA Mutulu Shakur, escaped and later fled the New York area.

This stuff just gets worse and worse:

“We are at war and have no respect for the laws, the verdict or the sentence. We will continue to maintain our position as freedom fighters!” they said. More than half the time the court was in session, the defendants boycotted the trial. They called the robbery an “expropriation” of funds that were needed to form a new country in a few select southern states that ideally would be populated only by blacks.

The defendants called only one witness, Nathaniel Burns, AKA Sekou Odinga, who claimed to be a soldier in the B.L.A. He said that his organization was “fighting for the liberation and self-determination of black people in this country.” Burns testified that the killings were suitable because the three dead men had interfered with the “expropriation” and therefore deserved to die. In his view, the theft of money was morally justified because those funds “were robbed through the slave labor that was forced on them and their ancestors.”

Clark and Gilbert, who sat in respectful silence while Burns testified, seemed impressed. When Burns completed his testimony, Gilbert thanked him profusely. “I just want to greet you, Comrade Odinga, and express my respect for you for twenty years of commitment, self-sacrifice for the New Afrikan people, and all oppressed people. Stay strong and I am really thrilled to have someone speak the truth in this courtroom for a change. Free the land!” Gilbert said.

Anybody ever here the story about the child of the Weather Underground convicted killer Kathy Boudin.

Her son, Chesa Boudin, 23, told the press that her mother wants to apologize personally to the victims’ families. “It’s very important to her that the families of those three men - know how terribly she feels about what happened,” he said.

Chesa’s father, David Gilbert, who drove one of the getaway vehicles in the bloody hold-up, is serving a 75-year-to-life sentence in Attica prison and will be eligible for parole himself in 2056. Gilbert has never cooperated with authorities in the investigation of the crime, which netted Boudin and friends $1.6 million in cash.

Chesa was later raised by comrades Bill Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn

Chesa in 2008 would now be 28 years old. Funny how Obama said that Ayers had kids that went to school with his kids. I hope that some 527 or the McCain Campaign is really running the roots trail of anybody that Obama might have met along the way in NYC.

Chesa is not a boy scout either. He is a leftist like Ayers and Dohrn who raised him.
