The nations battered economy needs an old-fashioned Rooseveltian lift of regulatory reforms and government spending on the infrastructure, clean energy and other sectors, U.S. Sen. John Kerry said yesterday.
Kerry, facing a re-election challenge from Republican Jeff Beatty, rejected GOP calls for more tax rebates to stimulate the economy, as was done last spring.
I am for a stimulus package. I am not for a stimulus package that just sends out checks, said Kerry at a Boston Herald editorial meeting yesterday.
Instead, Kerry said the nation needs to spend more in areas that will both help the economy in the short run and long run - such as on roads and bridges, clean energy initiatives and life sciences.
Calling current financial woes the most complicated economic time weve had since the Great Depression, Kerry said new approaches are needed to reform the current financial system.
Were operating with old institutions that are incapable of responding fast enough, dealing with vast sums of money that cross boundaries in different financial centers, said Kerry, who plans to provide more details of his economic agenda Tuesday at North Shore Community College in Lynn.
Democrats in Washington are pushing for more New Deal-like spending approaches for helping the economy, while the Republicans support boosting the economy via tax cuts.
But asked to respond to Kerrys economic remarks, Beattys camp made references to a famous anti-Kerry crack by former state Senate President William Bulger and to rumors Kerry might be in line to become secretary of state if Barack Obama wins the presidential race.
The only thing we know about John Kerrys plans is that printed on the bottom line is JFK - Just for Kerry. We just wonder how hes going to get all this done from inside the Secretary of States suite in Foggy Bottom, the Beatty camps statement read.
In a relayed story, Barney Frank calls for a 25% cut in military spending.
Say goodnight America...
I am for a stimulus package. I am not for a stimulus package said Kerry
What's next ... Jimmy Carter as Secretary of Defense? This is like a bad nightmare that I can't wake up from. We are going to witness these people destroy our country over the next few years if Bambi is elected.
Are we gonna get the Japanese government to bomb Pearl Harbor again? That seemed to be the only thing that got us out of the last Depression.
Couldn’t agree more... They are talking about Deval Patrick for AG...Deval Patrick! The man who made his bones forcing banks to make bad loans or be charged as racists and harassing Federal Wardens about warm tuna sandwiches and under-inflated basketballs. God have mercy on us!
We can already see what the Obama presidency will bring us. GET THE HELL OUT AND VOTE!
If we elect Obama the USA has jumped the shark.
June, 1970 -- Kerry joins Vietnam Veterans Against the War (VVAW), a national veterans group that is part of the Peoples Coalition for Peace and Justice. The PCPJ is a broad coalition of local and national organizations, including the Communist Party, USA, "committed to conducting demonstrations aimed at ending the war in Indochina, and poverty, racism and injustice at home." The VVAW, CCI and PCPJ all have headquarters at 156 Fifth Avenue in New York City. VVAW Executive Secretary Al Hubbard, a former **Black Panther, is also on the coordinating committee of the PCPJ. Hubbard soon appoints Kerry to the VVAW's Executive Committee, bypassing the normal election process.

From the Maoist Internationist Movement:
[Black Panther Party [BPP] Archives
From the article: REVOLUTIONARY HEROES
"On May 1st, May Day [1969], the day of the gigantic Free Huey rally, two of Alioto's top executioners vamped on the brothers from the Brown Community who were attending to their own affairs. These brothers, who are endowed with the revolutionary spirit of the Black Panther Party defended themselves from the racist pig gestapo.
Pig Joseph Brodnik received his just reward with a big hole in the chest. Pig Paul McGoran got his in the mouth which was not quite enough to off him.
The revolutionary brothers escaped the huge swarm of pigs with dogs, mace, tanks and helicopters, proving once again that "the spirit of the people is greater than the man's technology."
To these brothers the revolutionary people of racist America want to say, by your revolutionary deed you are heroes, and that you are always welcome to our camp."

November 22, 1970 -- During a fund-raising tour for GI deserters, Vietnam Veterans Against the War and the Black Panthers, Jane Fonda is quoted in the Detroit Free Press as telling a University of Michigan audience:
"I would think that if you understood what communism was, you would hope, you would pray on your knees that we would someday become communist," and "The peace proposal of the Viet Cong is the only honorable, just, possible way to achieve peace in Vietnam."

John Kerry, from his book, The New Soldier
"We will not quickly join those who march on Veterans' Day waving small [American] flags, calling to memory those thousands who died for the 'greater glory of the United States.'..."
"The John Kerry quote comes in the epilogue to "The New Soldier," the book put out by Vietnam Veterans Against the War [VVAW]. The book's cover features a group of not-particularly sober-looking anti-war protesters (vets, presumably) flying the American flag upside down [while mocking the historic flag raising event at Iwo Jima]":

Note John Kerry's name at top right of The New Soldier
"We will not quickly join those who march on Veterans' Day waving small (American) flags, calling to memory those thousands who died for the 'greater glory of the United States.' "
So John Kerry would have a difficult time marching with those waving small American flags yet had NO problems marching with those waving HUGE VIETCONG FLAGS?
"Pictured above: VVAW-supported demonstration during the Washington Spring Offensive, April - May 1971. Notice the North Vietnamese and Viet Cong flags."
You are like Kerry’s second worst nightmare... I love it. The first is Howie Carr only becuase he has a big megaphone and use it to ridicule Kerry regularly.
That's just the beginning. They are going to cut everything other than spending on social programs (i.e., welfare), and that will expand massively. They're going to tax everyone and everything to fund it.
It won't be just New Deal II, it will be that plus Great Society II. Oslobface has already proposed a global version of LBJ's boondoggle "War On Poverty". He's going to throw money at world-wide Appalachias in a way never seen before. And with a 2:1 'Rat majority in the House and a cloture-controlled 'Rat Senate, we aren't going to be able to stop it. It will be 1965-1967 all over again, only with more race riots (demands for "reparations").
