O.K., let's hear it. I know you think I'm crazy but at least be kind in your comments.

You're crazy. Detroit has enough votes to swing the state. McCalin-Palin have written it off.

One of by best friends is “WAS” the McCain co chair for Michigan .......he is unemployed right now. He said we have a snowballs chance in hell.

We have been blown away by Jenny.

I just hope McCain wins the presidency. I really dont want him to win.....but I really really really really dont want Hussein to win.

#1. 80% of Michigan's black population lives in the City of Detroit. The rest of the State is predominantly White folks who have loathed every Black Mayor Detroit has had going back to the days of Coleman Young. Detroit and the suburbs have a long history of racial tension. How many of you are old enough to remember Detroit burning in 1967?

Not sure how this contributes to a McCain win, however. If the demographics are the same as they were in previous election years, then I'd expect about the same election results.

#2. There are many Southern folks who live in Michigan. They came up from the South to work in the auto factories. They will definitely insure that the Bradley Effect of 6%(+) will kick in on Election Day.

Not so sure about this. The Bradley Effect, to the extent that it exists, is more of a northern Democrat thing. Southern whites live with the "you're a racist" nonsense every day, and I would imagine are inured to it by now. Northern white Democrats, on the other hand, are not and are more susceptible to fears that somebody else in the party may think they are racist for not voting for 0bama.

How can the auto workers not realize that high oil prices put them out of work? I would not be surprised to see MI turn.

I really don’t think you are crazy.

I think the bad economy combined with public backlash over media abuse of republican ticket can bring MIchigan in.

Scandals in Detroit did not help dems there either.

I really wonder if Obama is going to be able to do fraud as well all over the country.

There was no dem primary in Michigan so things are more messy there than most states. Obama often had inflated polls in the primaries. This could be a nother example of this.

Latest polling shows 17 points down which is a high hill to climb.

Michigan was Red in 1988 and 1992 when Reagan beat Mondale in a landslide and Bush beat Dukakis in a blowout.

McCain would have to win the National Popular vote by 5% or greater to carry Michigan.

If that happens we will be a happy bunch on Nov 4th.

" #5. There is a very strong Evangelical and Catholic presence in Michigan. The Evangelicals who stayed home in '04 (when Kerry just barely defeated Bush in the State) and '06 will not stay home this year. "

# 5 should be the strongest reason, as long as we don't have those who are " Sitting this one out " or " Teach the Republicans " or " 3rd Party " ... we don't have the luxury this time to vote 3rd party... or to sit this one out. a non vote for McCain/Palin is a vote for Obama.

What about union households which have swallowed the Kool-Aid for 100 years and continue to pass the the poison along to their kids?

I think it would surprise people to know that many union guys don’t like Barack because they’ve lost promotions due to affirmative action and see it getting worse under an Obama administration.

This is very funny. McCain is fighting for his life in states won easily by Bush (VA, NC, CO, MO). He has no chance in MI. If McCain loses VA or NC early on and concedes by 8PM EST, I would not be surprised if he loses MT and ND, let alone MI.

The election is all but lost. I think we need to say goodbye to fantasy and return to reality. Only a last minute miracle can save McCain.

Gee, I hope you’re right. I was born and raised in Michigan, left @ 6 years ago for Indiana. The ‘State of Wayne” is a tough one for the rest of the state to overcome, even with the nightmare of a governor Granholm.

I have lived in Michigan for decades.....people here, (like in the rest of America), love to whine about their circumstance..then vote for the guy offering them gov goodies.

And like the rest of the country...do what the MSM tells them to do.

Michigan is lost, as is the US.

President Obama is coming...you all had better stop waiting for your fellow Americans to save us, and get ready, hide your money by Dec 31.

“The people of Michigan are outraged that their Democratic Governor, Jenny “I wanna be Marilyn Monroe” Granholm, was reelected in ‘06 “

So what happened? The people of Indiana reelected her ? Sorry, MI got what it voted for and deserves.

You’re leaving out the enormous Muslim population in MI, and the eggheads at MI State and U of MI.

I’d love to see it, and can keep praying, but I don’t think it’s gonna happen.

The only real chance we have here in Michigan is Prop 2. We will have a strong Christian turnout for that. Embryonic Stem Cell research. So that could work in McCains favor, I hope anyways.

In Michigan, we would have had a chance had the GOP run ads about Jenny G and the lousy economy for the last month. It would have resonated big time and then McCain/Palin could have taken advantage of the resentment and possibly pulled the upset.

At this point, with no presence of a campaign to rally around, I doubt there is a chance of us losing the state by only a few percentage points. I think it will be above 5%.

I wish you were right, but unfortunately you are not. I live in central Michigan (Grand Rapids area), the western part of the state will go McCain, with the exception of the Battle Creek area of course.

In my opinion, there is just no overcoming the human orafice that is Detroit. It has been said that the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results even though experience has shown otherwise. That is Detroit. They will continue to overwhelmingly support the Democrats even though it is precisely that support which has caused the utter destruction of their city.

In addition, there are so many people scattered throughout the state that have had jobs move to other countries.....they are mad and they blame Bush, and as a result McCain; its not fair in my opinion, but it is the way it is. The bottom line for the majority of Michiganders is the pocket book, which is also understandable, though very myiopic: personally I’d rather be broke and free than middle class and oppressed.

I have seen tons of McCain/Palin signs where I live. Most of the Obama signs I see are (1) teachers (2) uaw (3) houses that look like they want some of our ‘wealth’.
