I do a good bit of traveling in my line of work, and have taken care to notice political signs in peoples' yards.
In the last month, I've been to Iowa, West Virginia, Oklahoma, Virginia, and Missouri. (I live in NC)
Now, I know that this is only my impression, but I can't get over the number of McCain signs I've seen, as opposed to the (lack of) Obama signs. With the exception of a very small part of West Virginia/Iowa, I haven't seen a significant number of Obama signs anywhere. Where are all these supporters?
Oklahoma/Virginia didn't surprise me, but Missouri? I thought I'd read that Obama was ahead in Missouri, and I bet the number of McCain to Obama signs ratio at least 5 to 1. Even in the case of the person supporting the Democrat Gubernatorial candidate, the house didn't have an Obama sign.
Seems strange to me. Any thoughts?
I not only get to see Obama signs, I also get to see Obama-Biden signs, and my favorite Obama-Biden-Kerry signs. Some days I wonder if I died and went to Hell.
I have noticed fewer and fewer obama stickers in NoVa
Inland Empire area California, I saw one Obama bumper sticker, 5 NOBAMA stickers this morning while driving to Corona.
Or maybe their subprime loans were foreclosed on by the greedy capitalists that expected consistent monthly mortgage payments?
In Maryland, I’ve actually seen more McCain signs. BIG ones, off the sides of the highways.
Day-am
I need to stock up on popcorn.
and ammo...
Oh, Oh..... I called obama by his Middle name.... I should feel bad...but I don’t ;-D
I live in the burbs in central ohio...the mccain sign far outnumber the “o” signs in the burbs...my wife and i were just commenting on this tonight...anecdotal, but fun.
Stop in Gainesville Florida to see my son at U of F, his street lined with Mac- Palin signs.
In Tampa I would say 50/50 signs.
You have to know where to look for them.
1- The party operatives, the movers and shakers.
2- The professional people who care little about Obama’s flaws, yet stand to gain $$$ when he is elected.
3- The elderly, lifelong, yellow dog democrats who really think they are still the party of JFK.
4- And of course, the useful idiots.
I’ll one-up them.
A free GUN for anyone that brings me an Obama sign.
My recent experience has been much like yours, Ranger. There seem to be more pro-Obama signs on cars and homes than McCain signs, but the vast majority of homes and cars have no signs. I think that most of these people are silent McCain supporters. Also, some McCain supporters are afraid to put up signs because of the violence of the Democrats.
Obambi signs outnumber the McCuda signs 30 to 1...
I have seen one Obama/Biden and one McCain/Palin bumper sticker in the past week. I believe that most people understand that this is a make-it-or-brake-it election year and do not want to treat it frivolously because too much is at stake.
Also, there is the underlying threat of violence that can be expected when political opponents were to get in a verbal argument. Everybody wants to play it cool before the storm breaks loose, The fact that I don’t see bumper stickers is an ominous forecast of things about to happen. (Dear Lord, tell me I’m wrong.)
Yeh, but we have relatives in Seattle who I KNOW are voting McCain/Palin. They probably don’t have signs up.
That’s a big event just to give a concession speech!
I do remember seeing O stickers on 2 Subarus and 1 Volvo.
Whoulda’ thunk it?
but I want to know how many Franken signs have you seen...LOL
