Of course I know about all the internet gossip about Senator Obama’s birth. Many of you (thousands?) have written me saying he was not born in the USA ( a Constitutional requirement for President) …. the rumors are flying around the internet and overloading my inbox and is viral. It doesn’t stop! I have thought the emails a waste of keyboard time and have ignored them.
However, since the emails just won’t stop…and since it really is a topic that should be put to rest and can be done with such ease, I now think Senator Obama should release his birth certificate but I also think, to be fair, so should the other 3….yes, all 4.
So, let’s have it! All 4 need to release their birth certificates to prove each was born in the USA and thus constitutionally able to serve as President. Let’s insist that all 4 release birth certificates and put the matter to rest! (and yes, stop the emails to me!)
Until this is done, the rumors simply will not stop and rumors are not fair…it is not fair to Senator Obama and he also should not be blackmailed into producing the records…so, if all 4 must produce, that seems fair.
Let’s see them….and then let’s move on.

I've never applied for a passport, I was unaware of this exception. Really, all you have to do is fill out a form? Simple sig gets you out of producing verifiable proof that you are indeed who you say you are for this I.D.? Is some other document used as a substitute, say, you provide your driver's license/photo I.D. instead, since you had to have your birth cerificate at the time in order to obtain those, or are you issued a passport anyway, nothing further needed, just sign the form?

My opinion of the matter is that we found a big gaping hole in our election system. Every secretary of state should demand that a candidate meet the requirements of the elected office prior to being put on a ballot. Citizens should have a right to view that proof.

If you are applying for a passport and you do not have a birth certificate, this is what is needed. Notice it says a combination of. It doesn’t say how many or all:

you may submit a combination of early public records as evidence of your U.S. citizenship. Early public records must be submitted together with a birth record or Letter of No Record (see below). Early public records should show your name, date of birth, place of birth, and preferably be created within the first five years of your life. Examples of early public records are:
Baptismal certificate
Hospital birth certificate
Census record
Early school record
Family bible record
Doctor’s record of post-natal care
Early Public Records are not acceptable when presented alone

Also remember, most of these records could have been obtained from Rev. Wright’s church.
Also, since we don’t know when he obtained his passport, THAT could have been used to get his driver’s licence. One of those, which came first scenarios.

That isn’t the point I was looking for. Whomever had ‘standing’ to ask McCain would also have ‘standing’ to ask Obama.
The State, Hawaii or any other has no business releasing anyone’s records.

I think any American citizen has standing to demand that a potential President at least prove that he is legally qualified to be elected.

Funny, I produced a COLB when applying for a passport 3 years ago and it was rejected. I had to write the state of Iowa and have them send me a valid, certified, raised state stamped version.
