A Pittsburgh police commander says a volunteer for the McCain campaign who reported being robbed and attacked near a bank ATM in Bloomfield has confessed to making up the story. Police say charges will be filed. More details to follow.

What she did deserves a stiff penalty - because she was messing with an election (in that it would probably influence voters) and in the fact that she made a racially charged false statement in a very volatile environment.

Now we have given ammunition to the O-bots to claim all reports of such attacks on campaign workers, polling places, and riots are hoaxes as well.

Thanks to you, actual violence against McCain supporters won't be believed by anyone. It was hard enough to get police to take a report when a nearby house was egged in 2004 and a swastika painted on his garage door. Or when someone threatened me when I removed a Dem sign from my own property and then my antenna was broken off later that day.
Thanks to you, even if a claim of violence is deemed legit by the press, your hoax will be included as "balance."
