Ten days to election, and they are pouring millions into ads, canvassing neighborhoods, making calls, getting out the vote, enraging Democrats -- all in an effort to turn around a dire political situation.
The Republican National Committee? No. The U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
Martin Kozlowski, The business community is back in politics. After years of contented political gridlock, American companies are now officially horrified at what an all-Democratic Washington intends to inflict on the U.S. economy. The Chamber is throwing its extensive resources at denying the left a filibuster-proof Senate. In doing so, it has stuck its finger in the Democratic leadership's beehive, and is facing retribution.
It says something about the momentousness of this race that the Chamber doesn't care. While the trade group has always been a force, over this decade many businesses have inched back from in-your-face politics. They felt comfortable with Republicans in charge. They felt comfortable with Democrats running Congress, since divided government rarely brings change. They felt comfortable not offending either political party, and not inviting attack by liberal activists.
They do not feel comfortable now. The Democratic Party once respected the need for a healthy U.S. business community. That was in part because business was ferocious enough to demand respect. But a resurgent labor movement has asserted control over the party. And business has been more concerned with PR than principle. This, and the recent financial crisis, has emboldened Democrats to pursue a pure antimarket agenda.

Barney Fwank sayin ‘Don’t worry there are still plenty of rich people out there we can tax” might have something to do with it.
I made a donation but was wondering when they were going to show up.
Finally!!!
Funny the message througg WSJ, was just recieved, tell me where you saw it before.
They are running Pro-Ellsworth (Democrat US Congressman) ads here in West-Central Indiana.
Cavuto FNC says (big) businesses are giving a fortune to democrats. They want to be on the receiving end of Washington giveaways. They can afford taxes plus taxes help them by killing off smaller businesses.
The Democrats have been attacking business and non-union employees for months. With the assaults on profits, 401Ks and pensions it’s amazing the Chamber is just now getting it.
And the democrat masses still don’t get it.
The fact that it is the US Chamber of Commerce and NOT the RNC, tells me that it is time to dump the elephant and create a real third party. Mac and Palin already are using the new party name as their slogan “America First”. I have always been convinced that each party get 10% regardless of who they run, leaving 80% up for grabs. The extremes of either party is ever going to move off of their position, maybe the timing is right.
So tell us wht we should care about Ellsworth? Who he is give us a thread and we can ll messae the U.S. Chamber our qustions, we nned to know more abou the candidate to know why that might be.
Republican Party Officials are on the stupid end of business too.
What were they thinking hiring Qwest to work the RNC convention. (founder is a homosexual marriage money donor and supporter to the democrat party and pushing his deathstyle politics)
It has, for months, been defending the 60-vote wall, fully engaged in nearly every competitive Senate race. It may well spend $40 million this cycle, or double its 2006 effort. In many Senate races, the Chamber is proving the only outside help to underfunded Republicans.
Nobody is perfect, anything postive to say about the party?
EVERY small business person ought to round up their employees and tell them flat out that if the tinpot commie is elected to POTUS there will be cuts. By cuts I mean jobs. Get it? Got it? Good!
The Senate Rs are pro-big business, as is Bush . Here’s another comment I posted today:
“But if things go the way I figured they would since the 2006 election, (and McCain made things even worse) we will have a big job next year cleaning Republican house of the establishment elite, Washington+ wall street republicans and forming resistance against the liberal Marxist takeover with a positive vision. See you then! From darkness comes the light”
Get me a thread please.
