From the Washington Post:

RICHMOND, Oct. 21 -- Efforts by elections officials in Fairfax County and several Virginia jurisdictions to distribute absentee ballots to military members and others living overseas ground to a halt Tuesday after a group concerned about the state's voting system crashed e-mail servers with a massive letter-writing campaign.....With the deadline to apply for absentee ballots in Virginia on Tuesday, Rokey Suleman said he and other registrars were unable to mail out or receive applications electronically. About midmorning, the Fairfax elections office had to shut down its e-mail servers after they took in more than 700 form e-mails from TrueVote.US...."It just shut us down," Suleman said.

Linda Schade is the founding Executive Director of Voters for Peace a member of the VotersForPeace board, and the Director of the VFP Peace, Climate and Security Initiative. She co-founded TrueVoteMD and VoteTrustUSA.

Suleman is also discarding more than 90% of military ballots received in the mail due to a technicality.

“’Our fighting soldiers ought to get at least the consideration that the prisoners in the jail get,’ said District 11 Rep. Tom Davis, a Republican, who said the disparate treatment of overseas voters violates federal law. [Fairfax County Registrar Rokey] Suleman was active in Ohio Democratic politics at his previous job with the Trumbull County Board of Elections, and ran for office earlier this year before taking the job at Fairfax. The office he holds in Virginia is officially nonpartisan.”

Kevin Zeese, executive director of TrueVote.US, which advocates reform in the balloting process, said the letter-writing campaign was designed to show Virginia officials "they are being watched by citizens" wanting the Nov. 4 election to run smoothly.

"It is important for elections officials to know people are watching and for people to know they want adequate voting machines," Zeese said.

But a campaign that was designed to prevent Election Day problems instead created chaos, Suleman said.

Bullsh!t. This was an organized campaign by democrats to kill military absentee ballots in a state that has one hell of a lot of them. The inside knowlege on when to crash the servers was provided by Suleman, a longtime democrat activist. How do we know this this? In addition to the players, we can listen to their own words: after everything was shut down, and inspite of all the democrat claims that the whole affair was just a big coincidental mistake, Zeese said "We've made our point."
