In late 2000 and early 2001, I received several email requests for donations to a woman in England who was planning a good will tour of several countries. She was going to ride her motorcycle through several countries, unescorted, to improve the image of bikers and women. She listed her itinerary, and most of the countries were Muslim. I don’t remember anymore which ones were on the list, but I sent an email warning her that a woman travelling alone in a Muslim country was not safe.

We were part of a group that shared emails, so copies went out to everyone. Up to that point, all the emails had been strictly about motorcycling.

I was swiftly dropped from all emails, for being such a narrow minded bigot.

I didn’t think about her or the group again, until September 11. I wonder what ever became of her. I wonder if she and they are now as narrow minded and bigoted as I.
