Rick Moran: THE GOP AND THE ‘DEAD PARROT’ SCENARIO
The Right Wing Nuthouse ^ | October 22, 2008 | Rick Moran

Posted on 10/23/2008 7:04:50 PM PDT by St. Louis Conservative

At the risk of being seen as “not helping” John McCain and “giving up,” allow me to take you on a little tour of the electoral battlefield today.

If there are any sharp objects within reach, I suggest you move them. Better yet, put them under lock and key. I am about to crack open the gates of hell and give you a peek at what’s inside.

As “The Dead March from Saul” plays on my headphones, I am forced to report that John McCain is approaching “Dead Parrot” status in the race for the presidency. The campaign is trying to convince us that John McCain is actually alive and still breathing while all other signs point to him being an ex-presidential candidate.

Don’t trust the polls? I wouldn’t either. In fact, a good case can be made that almost all the polls are undercounting Obama’s support and the Illinois senator is even further ahead than the polls indicate. (Read this piece by conservative political guru Michael Barone on polls.) This is because there seems to be a truly remarkable and historic dynamic at work in America. Early voting in states like NC, FL, and Ohio have shown extraordinary turnout among African Americans and the young, voting for Obama by huge margins (Pew has this early voting 58-34 for Obama while Zogby gives Obama a 21 point lead nationwide among early voters.)

Bradley Effect

The 2008 presidential campaign of B. Hussein Obama, an African American United States Senator, has brought a heightened level of scrutiny to the Bradley effect, as observers searched for signs of the effect in comparing Obama’s polling numbers to the actual election results during the Democratic primary elections. After a victorious showing in the Iowa caucuses, where votes were cast publicly, polls predicted that Obama would also capture the New Hampshire Democratic primary election by a large margin over Hillary Clinton, a white senator. However, Clinton defeated Obama by three points in the New Hampshire race, where ballots were cast secretly, immediately initiating suggestions by some analysts that the Bradley effect may have been at work.

I think the “blame game” that you’re talking about will come largely from people in the MSM, and (some say so-called) conservative columnists like David Brooks, Kathleen Parker, David Frum, and others. I don’t see these individuals being given much credence to the base, and I just flat out don’t believe that there are voters out there that were voting for McCain and flipped because of Palin.

I think the fav/unfav poll numbers are driven by the MSM. They run every trivial little piece of gossip-rag hit piece to try and trash and smear her for weeks, and then they run polls. Then they run stories on the poll results, and the cycle repeats itself.

We’re getting WAY ahead of ourselves, but I think Sarah Palin would be in fine shape for a future run, should she want to.

“I think a LOT of folks will hold their nose and vote for McCain / Palin”

Better to hold your nose and vote for McCain/Palin vs. cutting your nose off and voting for the Messiah.

“Good grief, the newbie trolls are crawling out of the woodwork tonight.”

I agree. It makes me fear Halloween when all the weenies will try to scare us about the hero vs. the Senate’s winkie. BTW, whose ears are bigger, ODumbo’s or Kucinich’s? Either one would look good in a Gremlin costume, neither would need the fake ears.

Absolutely right. These guys aren’t missing a psyops trick, I’ll give ‘em that.

I see much more enthusiasm where I live for McCain/Palin than I did for Bush in 2004. I could drive 2 miles in each direction and count, I conservatively estimate, 25 McCain yard signs, and I think ONE Obama sign.

There’s an enthusiasm gap that isn’t being discussed. Those who dislike Obamunist - OK, I’ll say hate because I hate him - ARE going to turn out in big numbers.

I’ll predict flatly a large popular vote win for McCain. Electoral will be much closer, but in places like Texas McCain is going to win with between 62 and 65% of the vote.

Electorally, it’s going to come down to Pennsylvania and Ohio. And McCain looks very promising in both right now.

I’m not happy either.

McCain has been given the issues to beat the crap out of Obama, issues that cut thru the entire electorate.

They are easily understood but when McCain brings them up it’s like he stops in mid-sentence or he is explaining the issue from an obscure prospective.

I’m hoping people see what he’s trying to get across to them.

Sometimes Rick acts a little like his brother Terry. It’s understandable. He’s mostly conservative but his brother’s lib tendencies rub off on him.

Rick Moran is a full Freeper and full time McCain hater form way back.

I read his blog everyday and I have to tell you I'm of the opinion that he's truly a lefty mascarading as a Right Wing blogger.

By the way his brother is Terry Moran of ABC News.

Thanx for reminding me of that sir! Tell you what, I’m not even watching Fox anymore, except Greta. Man has she stepped up her game. There are times I’m thinkin she’s really pissed about the way the dims are doing voter fraud and how even some R’s are just twiddling their thumbs. Did you see how she pounded the shit out of McCollum from FL the other night? Freakin rino.
