Sarah Palin, the GOP vice presidential nominee, poses with supporters Tuesday in Henderson at a rally that produced a change in the candidates tone.
***********************************************
Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin unveiled a new stump speech before a crowd of thousands at the Henderson Pavilion, appealing directly to women and softening her overall tone.
Its about time we shattered that glass ceiling once and for all, said Palin, the Republican vice presidential nominee.
And the chant went up: Sarah! Sarah! Sarah!
Palin offered a range of women- and family-friendly policy proposals not usually heard from Republican candidates.
She called for equal-pay-for-equal-work and more family-friendly policies such as flexible workweeks. She offered an homage to the federal law requiring that womens collegiate sports have the same resources as mens.
She castigated the subjugation of women abroad.
Meet Sarah Palin, feminist extraordinaire.

Got to run....be back ;later...
I was part of a “club” sport, rowing on a Crew team. We financed ourselves with fund raising drives.
Our University “stole” our women's crew team to balance out some Title 9 numbers. They gave a couple of our gals scholarships and paid for their travel, but the boats (which the club paid for) were still club property; but then the women were not supposed to fund raise (and they were the best at it)!
A wrestling team needs mats and gym time. They can fund their own travel and such. Swimming team needs pools and pool time. They can fund their own travel and such.
I don't think the discrepancy in interest between women and men's sports will stand forever.
Women are greater than 50% of most Universities populations, they should have an equal opportunity to play a sport.
I think the emphasis on athletics in college is out of hand anyway. “We need a University the Football team can be proud of” is a joke.
You got a problem with Title IX?
What organized athletics has to do with scholarship is a mystery to me. Tossing a ton of dollars at a very few students is a waste, but as long as they're going to do it, it had better be spread in proportion to gender.
College sports brings in a lot of money and I have no problem with them spending that money that THEY make. I don't really have much of a problem with the University giving them a free education either, but what is sauce for the gander is good for the goose as well.
Other than that, what is wrong with “club” sports? Paying your own way brings a certain satisfaction.
I was a collegiate athlete, and I paid my own way. Crew boats are not cheap. Best of all as a all volunteer Crew, most of us never having rowed before, we regularly beat the pants off all scholarship teams! SWEET!!!
Check with any alumni association to see how much is donated to the school because of their sports teams. Then ask for a breakdown of donations by sex.
They aren't donating because womens field hockey won the NCAA.

She has to watch it, though. It is entirely appropriate to advocate for “women’s issues.” It is another thing to do that entirely - you risk looking more like a First Lady than a Vice-President with “gravitas.”
I loved the part of that video where he was talking to Anderson Cooper and he said that Matthews and Olberman climaxed at the same time during Obama’s acceptance speech. Hilarious!
So you like Government micro-managing your life? Or object to criticism of your girl-crush?
No, and I have stopped beating my wife, BTW.
I was just noting that with a neck and neck race with a guy who will pretty much micromanage everything...
...we still have people whining like babies.
Later days.

Right. Gotta have a pile of cash to pay the socialist professors to put chips in the heads of our future leaders. Cha-ching. See post 25, it is right on.
And I keep being told that this is not the case....because of the large crowds Palin draws. We shall see.
Show me why I should trust the GOP to govern in a fiscally conservative way (or even competently). The whole Palin thing is eye candy for a morally bankrupt party. If I thought they’d govern well and/or conservatively I’d give some credit. All I see is incompetence and venality
LOL! Yeah, that's the way it works. If the GOP acts like drunken sailors, they are rightly criticized. But if the nominee picks a social and fiscal conservative with a steel spine and flawless pro-life cred to be his right-hand woman, it's just a stunt. Either way, the whiners get to do what they like to do best: Whine, while the rest of us do the heavy lifting of reform.
Please, show me why voting for anyone but McCain in this election is the best thing to do for this country. If you can't, show me what your whining does to defeat Obama. Or are you one of the folks on this site who talks conservatism but dreams of The One thanking them for their vote?
You settle for second worst. I think our country deserves better.
No, what you think is that the path Ronald Reagan chose isn't good enough for conservatives. What you think is that I'll overlook your intellectual cowardice. Put up or shut up, Princess. If you're so much more devoted to the country than me and Ronnie, you should have no trouble handling this query. Here it is again:
Please, show me why voting for anyone but McCain in this election is the best thing to do for this country. If you can't, show me what your whining does to defeat Obama.
Because voting for a kleptocrat makes you complicit in your own tyranny: it puts the handcuffs on your hands. I wouldn’t support Herod even if he is better than Caesar
If you don’t get it, I’m sorry. It’s called integrity
Besides, do you really think McCain is a conservative? Come on!
