“I am traveling next week. Although I hold a valid Georgia Firearms License, the states I am traveling through do not all have a reciprocal agreement with the State of Georgia.

And my destination has some of the strictest gun laws in the country with some heavy penalties.”

go to http://www.handgunlaw.us

Find out what the peacable journey laws are for the states you are passing through. Acquire non-firearms means of self defense in order to, if needed, fight your way to your firearm.

A low profile backed up by the will to prevail will go a long way toward survival (one can get further with will and a blade than will alone).

Utah, New Hampshire, and Florida all offer non-resident permits and with those three one is covered for most of the states that allow CC. Illinois is still proglematic but that is no surprise.

Stay alert.

I've used the site you suggested already.

I am well acquainted with the laws of all the states I am passing through.

I make this trip frequently and have agonized in the past about whether or not to take my weapon.

The sticking point is the state of my destination which offers no non-resident permit and no other way to possess my firearm legally. Even broken down and locked away.

I either go “outlaw” or unprotected.

I still haven't decided.
