Palin addresses issues on television interview
Republican Vice Presidential candidate and Alaska governor Sarah Palin addressed issues yesterday relating to Latin America, including Hugo Chavez and illegal immigration, in her first interview with a Spanish-language network. The interview began with Univision anchor, Jorge Ramos asking Palin to clarify recent statements she and Republican Presidential candidate John McCain have made, characterising Senator Barack Obamas tax proposals as socialist. Palin denied ever having called Obama a socialist directly.
The interview quickly turned to US nemesis, leftist Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez, who has repeatedly claimed the US is planning to attack Venezuela. However, Palin said military action was a last resort. We hate war. We want peace. We want through negotiation and sanctions if need be to put pressure on a dictator like Hugo Chavez, to let them see that they will not mess around with America the way that they want to, she said.
The governor also addressed illegal immigration, saying she and McCain supported a two-pronged approach of securing the border and then working with undocumented workers already in the US.
There is no way that in the US we would roundup every illegal immigrant - there are about 12 million of the illegal immigrants.
We - our policy - John McCain has been so clear with his policy and it makes a lot of sense too.
We secure our borders first. But then with a comprehensive approach we must deal humanely with those who are here, and we must allow the steps to be taken to protect the families of those who are here, maybe as illegal immigrants today, she said.
McCain has made an effort to reach out to Latino voters, a constituency that could prove key in swing states in Novembers election. Latino support for the Republican Party ebbed earlier this year following a bruising battle over illegal immigration. - Reuters
It’s easy. Take way the jobs and they will self-deport. It’s been done in Oklahoma and Arizona. At no expense to the taxpayer - just the opposite in fact. Less free handouts to illegals, less kids in schools to have to teach English to, and less crime.
Of course she said they support a two-pronged approach. They’re in an election, remember? An election where they are behind, no less. What did you want her to say? McCain wants a two-pronged approach, but I want every stinking illegal alien kicked out of here post-haste! This would have been trumpeted around the world as a gaffe PLUS they would have lost all of the hispanic vote.
You guys need to get a grip and remember that we’re in a fight against communism here.
Actually, this is NOT about Hillary anymore; it is about the country. Yes, there are some that are pissed about what happened with Hillary! However, they are fighting hard and they are old school democrats that love this country and they are upset that their party has been hijacked! Wow, most of you guys were cool until today!
Well, being cool is of course more important than anything! Not since high school actually.
It IS about Hillary. They’d love Hillary giving amnesty and all her other socialist agenda items if she was the candidate. Don’t think they are all of a sudden hard core conservatives. They’re just having a hissy fit and acting out. Kinda like high schoolers as well.
Yeah, ok publana. I just wonder what her TRUE stance is on the subject. Since this is all we got, I’m taking it on face value.
I’ll back McPalin anyway, but I have great reservations about it. But, there is nobody better and the alterative is a LOT worse. Spreading the wealth to illegals would be worse.
Isn’t the point that the entitlement trough is bad for anyone regardless of race, color, or creed?
CottonBall, do NOT speak for them. You have NO idea what they are thinking. They are putting their country first unlike most people. Are you trying to intentionally piss off an entire voting block?
This is a no brainer!!! Vote McCain/Palin or you’ll never get the chance to have this discussion - or the ability to influence the outcome - if Obama is elected!
It does indeed. He was furious when people started posting Palin/Jindal 2012. He's already trying to club Palin in the knee for the future.
Yep. My agenda is to remake the GOP into a conservative party again. One that does not bendover for Mexico.
Then why does your tag line say, “www.falconparty.com”?
Because that is going to be the remake. Back to Reaganism.
Same reason Brownback, Gilmore, T. Thompson, & Tancredo did so poorly. No money, no name Id. Oh, and Fred the stalking horse.
PUMAs are conservative leaning centrists that love our country. They aren’t extreme liberal nutjobs that hate it. I may not agree with them on all of their issues, but I can respect the fact that they are standing up for what they believe and their love of their country.
