Palin Supports McCain’s Plan for Amnesty for ILLEGALS

Palin addresses issues on television interview

Republican Vice Presidential candidate and Alaska governor Sarah Palin addressed issues yesterday relating to Latin America, including Hugo Chavez and illegal immigration, in her first interview with a Spanish-language network. The interview began with Univision anchor, Jorge Ramos asking Palin to clarify recent statements she and Republican Presidential candidate John McCain have made, characterising Senator Barack Obama’s tax proposals as “socialist”. Palin denied ever having called Obama a socialist directly.

The interview quickly turned to US nemesis, leftist Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez, who has repeatedly claimed the US is planning to attack Venezuela. However, Palin said military action was a last resort. “We hate war. We want peace. “We want through negotiation and sanctions if need be to put pressure on a dictator like Hugo Chavez, to let them see that they will not mess around with America the way that they want to,” she said.

The governor also addressed illegal immigration, saying she and McCain supported a two-pronged approach of securing the border and then working with undocumented workers already in the US.

“There is no way that in the US we would roundup every illegal immigrant - there are about 12 million of the illegal immigrants.

“We - our policy - John McCain has been so clear with his policy and it makes a lot of sense too.

“We secure our borders first. But then with a comprehensive approach we must deal humanely with those who are here, and we must allow the steps to be taken to protect the families of those who are here, maybe as illegal immigrants today,” she said.

McCain has made an effort to reach out to Latino voters, a constituency that could prove key in swing states in November’s election. Latino support for the Republican Party ebbed earlier this year following a bruising battle over illegal immigration. - Reuters

Maybe I will, but at least I’ll know I didn’t vote for Obama. The same with McCain. When McCain screws up the country royally and the posters on here are whining the old “but, but, I thought he wouldn’t REALLY give them amnesty” rant, I’ll be able to say the same thing about him - “At least I didn’t vote for him.”

There will be no Palin presidency in 2012 or ever if and when Amnesty goes through. At best we can only forestall the inevitable for a year or 2 until McCain/Palin rams Amnesty down our throats as our reward for voting them into office.

Remember - Palin is the VICE President candidate. For now she has to run on McCain’s platform. She’s not going to denounce his “Don’t drill in ANWR” either, as long as she is number 2.

Don’t read more into this than the obvious.

The left wing blogs are blogging about this as I type. You guys have helped feed the wolves!

In four years of Obama/Reid/Pelosi it won’t matter. Americans will be so angry over the amnesty and citizenship of 30-40 million illegals, and tens of millions of their following families, that even the Democrats will be running on a stop-illegal-immigration campaign.

Of course, there will be 30-40 million new Democrat voters, but that’s also McCain’s wish.

Why does it bother you so much that I refuse to compromise what I believe is right to go along and get along? My vote and my principles are my own and I won’t compromise them because Freepers think I should. I see no real difference between McCain and Obama on amnesty. I consider that to be the biggest danger to America today. When amnesty happens, and all these illegals are coming out of the shadows and become citizens, and their families are allowed to come here and become citizens, what chance do you think that a conservative will ever be elected again in this country? America will be a great big hog trough for the whole 3rd world. Both McCain and Obama are bound and determined to see that happen. I refuse to vote for my own destruction - whether it comes at the hands of a Republican or a Democrat.

Interesting analogy, but I don’t see how it supports your recommendation that Hunter should begin lying.

I never made any recommendations that Hunter should begin lying. He might try to advance his career as a Community Organizer if he needs experience for the presidency :)

Oh, really? Are your principles only used in church or do you live your life by them? That’s what I’m trying to do. Live my life by my principles.

The perfect is the mortal enemy of the good enough. McCain is good enough for right now.

I will confess that it bothers me to see you giving in to the left. Your deep held convictions are being manipulated and used as a weapon against you. Doesn’t that make you mad?

I’d like to see the interview, or read the transcript. Can’t access site right now. Hoping “oneoldvet” has a link to the actual interview.

Regardless - as important as this issue is - we’re dealing in priorities, and the most important issue is defeating Obama. We’ll deal with disagreements with McCain after we’ve secured the WH.

I'm not defending EagleMamaMT's whole argument, but, they have a point - once the illegals get citizenship, whether under Obama or under McCain, Conservatives as a political movement, are finished. The GOP could even be finished, although I think they'll simply move further to the left in order to try and stay relevant.

I've heard the argument that amnesty is more dangerous than terrorism, and I tend to agree. Terrorists can kill Americans, but amnesty will change America itself, in favor of the Democrats. That is more damaging in the long run.
