LONGWOOD, Fla. -- The home of a Central Florida Republican headquarters manager was shot up and damaged over his support of Sen. John McCain, the man told police.
Rog Coverely said several pellets pierced his Longwood home. Coverely showed several spiderwebbed-holes in the front windows of his home.
The Republican manager said he is convinced he was targeted because of new McCain signs he added around his home.
"All I can tell you is this, I have a very good relationship with my neighbors," Coverely said. "I mow my lawn. The only thing that has changed is I have two McCain signs in my front yard."
Coverely said he has taken about 300 calls concerning stolen or vandalized McCain signs in the area.
"It says this campaign is getting vicious," Coverely said.
Coverely said it appears Democrats are becoming more aggressive in the county.
"I wouldn't say slipping but I would say the Democrats have become far more aggressive in Seminole County because it is such a heavy Republican area," Coverely said.
Local 6 has learned that the attorney general's office is getting involved in area investigation and has asked to see police reports of sign vandalism and theft.
Meanwhile, McCain will be in Florida Thursday.
The Republican presidential nominee is speaking at Allstar Building Materials in Ormond Beach. Later he'll be in Sarasota for a "Joe the Plumber" bus tour rally at Robarts Arena.

I also heard this morning on Bill Bennett’s program that Michelle Bachmans home in Minnesota has been vandalized. Someone spray painted “SCUM” on it. Doncha just love the tolerance of the left?

These people are dangerous. Time for McCain and Palin to talk about this on the campaign trail.
This kind of evil will hopefully create more support for McCain in FL and everywhere else it happens. I hope local TV stations give it thorough coverage.

The headline seems true but misleading. Saying the house was “shot up” I was expecting firearms. As the damage is described it sounds like a pellet gun, most probably kids.
That’s bad enough just on its own terms but it’s not the SLA shootout.
Saw this on the local 11 PM news last night. They’re receiving hundreds of calls about McC-Palin vandalism in our area.
Yesterday I mentioned on another thread- driving around I’ve seen dozens of McC yard signs torn and dumped in the streets. A friend told me 3 cars in her neighborhood with McC stickers were badly keyed- and one windshield smashed.
Four years ago- in my complex there were tons of yard signs mostly Bush but lots of Kerry too. They ALL remained standing and undamaged til the middle of November.
This year- very few signs at all- mostly Obama- but I know many of the 04 Bush people and they’re voting for McC- but aren’t willing to risk signs.
Intimidation tactics are powerful.

In Minnesota, not only was Bachmann’s home vandalized, also Sen. Coleman (R), Sen Klobuchar (D), Congressman Ellison (D), Congressman Ramstad (R) and Congressman Kline (R).
All happened on the same night and the FBI is now involved.
It seems we have an equal opportunity whacko on our hands in the land of 10,000 lakes.
