A few years back I caught a New Show on Fox called Firefly. It was a great sci-fi show by the creator of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. It got into rating trouble and there was much hoopla and Fan effort to get the ratings up, but it was canceled in its first season.
Then a Movie was made based on Firefly called Serenity. It was one of the best Sci-fi movies to be made in a very long time. On its opening weekend it was the 2nd largest grossing movie beat out only by Flightplan. (according to the-numbers.com ticket sales data.)
Also TIVO was becoming a hot item when Firefly was first aired. TIVO showed Firefly as the most recorded New TV show of the season. Further when the Firefly Boxed set came out it was the number one selling DVD on Amazon for several weeks.
So one has to ask how does a TV show be the most recorded new show of the season on TIVO the Number one selling DVD on Amazon and the 2nd Best grossing movie on its opening weekend but have Nielson ratings so low it convinced FOX to cancel it?
Makes one wonder how accurate Nielson is.
It is especially bad when good shows are canceled!
Me thinks this wouldn’t pass a Fairness Doctrine smell test.

O’reilly grates on me most of the time but his appearance on the View was classic and I loved it.
Except for my kids. I constantly tell them to not believe what they see on TV. As a matter of fact I fight with the school weekly about their communist leanings.
I wrote an extensive letter to the School to explain my hoStility towards them and asked them to please STOP PROMOTING COMMUNISM AND STOP MAKING MY KIDS ADHERE TO THEIR SOCIALIST IDEALS.
Encino and Sherman Oaks are situated in the north side of the hills that seperate them from Beverly Hills & Brentwood to the south, with the 405 & Sepulveda blvd. splitting BH/SO from B&E. east & west.
The folks from Sherman Oaks were perfectly happy with the location, and other than the Jackson 5 family, not nearly as wealthy overall, but one heck of a lot happier than our counterparts on the other side of 405, who were always trying to present a picture of themselves as just as good as the "swells" on the other side of the hill, always, on their way there, and always dissatisfied with the opulent lifestyle they lived.
Curiously, the most decadent, drug and alchohol saturated parties I went to as a teen were in Encino, as if these kids needed to find themselves and attention any way they could, and parents like Joy, so unhappy that anyone could have more than she, had nothing to offer other than discrimination.
Kids need more than that.
