Who needs history books when we have 21st century liberals around to set the record straight? As embarrassing as it is to confess, I wasnt aware that the word socialism was an old code word for black. I know my naivety is leaking out all over, but I was evidently one of the few conservatives in all of America who hadnt actually thought about melanin levels in skin when discussing the economic system defined by the redistribution of wealth. (I really need to attend more of the meetings).
Lewis Diuguid, a columnist for the Kansas City Star, lays it out on the table. He writes:
The "socialist" label that Sen. John McCain and his GOP presidential running mate Sarah Palin are trying to attach to Sen. Barack Obama actually has long and very ugly historical roots. J. Edgar Hoover, director of the FBI from 1924 to 1972, used the term liberally to describe African Americans who spent their lives fighting for equality. McCain and Palin have simply reached back in history to use an old code word for black. It set whites apart from those deemed unAmerican and those who could not be trusted during the communism scare.
Oh, to be a fly on the wall during the McCain/Palin campaign strategy meetings.
If only I still attended university, Id understand the degree to which racism really does still pervade the very fabric of the United States. Of course, almost all of it, as I have come to discover, is veiled in code words, cryptic phraseology and good old fashioned conservative double-speak.
When Senator John McCain, during the second Presidential debate, referred to Barack Obama as that one, I admit to not realizing it really meant one of them, which in truth meant not one of us, which clearly meant not white and thus logically translated to black.
Im a dope.
During her acceptance speech at the Republican National Convention, Governor Sarah Palin criticized Barack Obamas community organizing past which, at the time, seemed reasonable and fair to a wet-behind-the-ears conservative like me. New York Governor David Patterson, however, immediately saw through the ishkabibble and wasted no time pouncing on Palins veiled racism saying, "I think where there are overtones is when there are uses of language that are designed to inhibit other people's progress with a subtle reference to their race.
Clearly, a lack of maturity and self-awareness contributed to the obfuscation of the silent screams of the white hoods buried deep within the recesses of my latently racist brain. I should have known better. I openly hang my head in shame.
Of course, there are times when impulsive conservatives like me jump the revolver and howl racism where there is none. (I am so out of whack here). When Senator Obama said, What they're going to try to do is make you scared of me. You know, he's not patriotic enough. He's got a funny name. You know, he doesn't look like all those other presidents on those dollar bills, I naturally allowed my knee to jerk with allegations of racism.
Talk about wrong! Obama wasnt trying to play the race card at all. He was actually trying to deliver a warning to the progressive, issue-oriented, race-blind people among us, pointing out with stunning lucidity that conservatives like me were going to try and make them scared of him because he doesn't look like all those other presidents on those dollar bills.
Obviously. Before Obama clarified my thinking for me, I had never actually thought of it in those terms. Still, I decided that I still needed to confirm his thesis. Sure enough, after whipping out a few dollar bills from my pocket, I had to concede that Obama was right he did look different from the Presidents on the dollar bills (even Alexander Hamilton).
He was really on to something.
The bottom line is
thanks to the American Leftocracy, all of this is coming to light and coming undone including my own previously unrealized prejudices, which I never would have had the courage to acknowledge (or even recognize) if it werent for Leftocrats having the guts to point them out to me.
Yet more proof that liberals have all the strong drugs...and use them...liberally.
Excellent article. Thanks!
Thank you very much. I am most appreciative.

So would America cease to be a nation with racial problems if a black president is elected? One would think, no?
I think it would mark the end of African-Americans as a special, aggrieved people for many.
When I think socialist, I pictured soviet-bloc looking type.
This whole time I have been uniformed.
As have I ...
*sigh*
as have I ...

The Revs. Jesse and Al have been assigned to solve that problem. Gotta keep the race industry humming right along.
Maybe we should start calling it the “S word” so that people understand what a damaging racist term “socialist” is to black people.
Then we’ll start hearing rappers say “yo wassup, Socialist!” and a whole debate will rage on whether blacks calling another black a Socialist is racist, or just an ironic defusing of the racist term itself. Then suburban white kids will start calling each other Socialists to appear cool and edgy.
This is all so stupid I can’t see straight.
Maybe we need the “whole list of code words” from Lewis?
I’m on it.

Thank you.
Hopefully it will be a pocket edition, so I can carry it around and consult it so when I speak I won’t offend anyone.
“I think it would mark the end of African-Americans as a special, aggrieved people for many.”
I’m afraid you have it backwards. Unfortunately, we may soon find out.
Hmmm, well the overwhelming majority of the black vote goes to Democrats. The one idea all Democrats agree on is that the government should take money away from people who have more wealth than the Dems think they ought to have and give it to those who do not have as much. So I guess if you don’t want to use the word “socialist”, you could use “Marxist” or “communist” instead, but that seems to be what black voters want.
“From each according to his ability, to each according to his need (or needs).” ~ Karl Marx
What they want to do is take money (and things) away from people who have more wealth than the Dems think they should have and give a bit of it to those who do not have as much.
The Dems, however, will feel obligated to keep the lion's share of it for themselves.
This is to insure that the "little people", such as they are, learn the lesson that while under their stewardship all will be equal (read:poor), some will be more equal than others, just like in the beloved motherland of Russia.
Further, they want these self-same "little people" to learn that lesson very, very well.
After all, this is the lesson (among others of the same ilk) that they're foisting off on our kids in school day after day, year after year.
So this should come as no surprise, should it?
CA....
Remember, Comrade, in the New Amerika, some people will always be more equal than others. You cannot expect our glorious leaders to live like the proles.
I stand corrected, and am most assuredly abashed!
Thank you, Comrade!
CA....
You are quite welcome, Comrade, but remember your comments mean you bear watching in the new Amerika.
Perhaps you should consider some re-education here:
