I wonder how many blatantly ugly comments about Dr. Laura we will get after reading this article by her.

Libertarian lawyers (whole state bar associations) and their counter-culture associates (psychs., social workers, teachers, all) created and support the divorce industry and relegated most jobs to cheap, antagonistic countries without really fighting the many family-busting social programs. They’re all about infiltrating and ruining other political parties, which they’ve successfully done.

Requirements for divorce prior to the enactment of no-fault divorce
“Prior to the no-fault divorce revolution, a divorce could be obtained only through a showing of fault of one of the parties in a marriage. This was something more than not loving one another; it meant that one spouse had to plead that the other had committed adultery, abandonment, felony, or other similarly culpable acts. However, the other spouse could plead a variety of defenses, like recrimination (essentially an accusation of “you too”). A judge could find that the respondent had not committed the alleged act or the judge could accept the defense of recrimination and find both spouses at fault for the dysfunctional nature of their marriage. Either way, the judge could refuse to dissolve the marriage, although it was also possible for the judge to grant one or both parties a divorce.”

Dr. Laura actually has some good advice her and again. But having said that, it really galls me that she makes money using other people’s pain. Her pop-psychology acts as a culture-threatening phenomena-—much like Oprah, IMHO-—aka, the quick fix. Laura is just “conservative” as opposed to Oprah’s “liberal” but at the end it’s all the same. Beside I really hate how Dr. Laura interrupts people and then speaks as the “all knowing one”. Maybe that’s what annoys me about Obama, too. :)

Here is the first one...
Pop-psychology my butt!
She deals with problems in a straightforward way.
I dare say given the bitterness you are displaying she probably has stepped on something in your own life that you did not appreciate.

I guess you can say the same thing about anyone's service some one seeks and they get money. Doctors, Therapist, Paramedics, Police, etcc... They all benefit from others pain but still want to be helped by them. Wow and they make money.

I don’t like her either. She is often quite rude and condescending.
What bothers me about this passage is her saying that people who get divorced are so selfish. I remember when divorce was more difficult, and yes people stayed together because it was harder, but they were miserable and lived in horrible relationships with each other. I think that’s why most divorces now are filed by women. Used to, they had no choice but to stay in awful situations for economic reasons. Now because many have good jobs, they don’t put up with the crap that they’re getting at home. It’s sad but true.

You totally missed my point. Pop-psych in the media is not helping people. It’s marketing and entertainment.

Exactly. She gives the quick answer designed to boost ratings and never bothers to do a deep-dive into the person real problems... “gotta go to a break”

Yes.
To: Ugot2Bkidding
Wrong. I have a lot and got totally sick of listening to her quick fly-bys. She does NOT help people-—she’s getting paid by advertisers for entertainment. I made the choice that she is not the kind of entertainment I want to support.

Let me guess, you've been divorced, right?

You could not be more wrong concerning Dr. Laura.
Her approach has always been one strong on personal responsibility and she does not put up with excuses.
She does not "Feel Your Pain".
And if people acutally listen to her advice, I'd say she helps far more people than not.
