NEW HAVEN, Conn., October 22 /Christian Newswire/ -- A newly released survey of California voters shows support for Proposition 4 - a proposed law that requires a waiting period and parental notification before a girl under 18 is allowed to have an abortion. The initiative holds a 19 percentage point lead among likely voters, 52% to 33%. The survey was conducted for the Knights of Columbus by the Marist College Institute for Public Opinion between September 28 and October 5, 2008.
The survey shows that Proposition 4 has majority support among women (55% to 31%), Latinos (61% to 27%), those who are married (59% to 25%) and those age 45 or older (55% to 28%). The initiative also leads among men (49% to 34%). Those opposed include likely voters 18 to 29 years old (52% to 41%).
The poll also shows that Proposition 4 leads by double digits in every region of California except the Bay Area, where a plurality of 48% is opposed.
Among California likely voters, 75% say that parents or legal guardians have the right to know if their underage daughter is seeking an abortion.
The survey also found that 76% of likely California voters favor significant restrictions on abortion, including 47% who believe abortion should be restricted to cases of rape, incest, or to save the life of the mother, or should never be permitted. Among key groups, 84% of Catholic likely voters favor significant restrictions. Sharing this view are 85% of Latino likely voters, including 61% who would limit abortion to cases of rape, incest, or to save the life of the mother or believe it should never be permitted.
Even most pro-choice people still want abortions after “viability outside the womb is possible” to be banned....if you ask ‘em specifically about 3rd trimester abortins.
Parental notification before ANY medical procedure is a no-brainer.
Wonderful News!
I find these poll results somewhat difficult to believe given the drubbing that this Prop has taken the last two times it was on the ballot (’05 and ‘06). With any luck, Props 4 and 8 will be a one-two punch for many conservative voters, but I think that 8 has a much better chance than 4 given the historical precedents.
You are absolutely correct. There has never been support for the blood lust promoted by NARAL and NOW in America. The idea of young girls being spirited off in the dark for abortions without the knowledge of their parents is preposterous. This failed the last time when it was a much closer race. I think the Prop 8 push is going to push this over the top too.

They also did one on Prop 8, re same-sex-marriage

Even most “pro-choicers” won’t admit that they support partial birth or outright infanticide,
but they still wouldn’t vote that way.
In fact, most of them that I’ve talked to deny that any democrat pol supports those things either.

Well, then, in these .0001% of the abortion cases, I'm with you as well.
But, there is no way someone can tell me that the LIFE of the mother will be saved by a PBA that wouldn't be saved by a full delivery.
I support abortion if the life of the mother is endangered, the person was raped, molested etc, or the mother is a young child (10 - 13) range ... Abortion is NOT acceptable as everyday birth control.
A large majority of people think like me as well. More and more people feel abortion as everyday birth control is wrong, and that number of people continues to grow.
Allowing kids a medical procedure such as abortion without parental consent is absurd, not to mention it should be illegal and not even considered for a poplar vote. Talk about no rights as a parent. Give me a break.
It seems certain liberal ideas (that are accepted in a limited form) get pushed further and further to the extreme ... almost always to the point of a backlash.
That's happening now. Funny, parental consent is required to administer your underage child medication at school, yet not required for an abortion clinic--for performing an invasive surgical procedure as suction abortion? This is madness...
Then if something terrible happens, the parents are notified after their daughter is fighting for her life in the hospital...and Planned Parenthood doesn't pay for that insurance bill.
They should be sued right out of existence, but they get way too much tax money.
Defund it!

Unfortunately, parental notification laws keep getting voted down in Congress, thanks to Nancy and her gang of baby-killing thugs. Hope the voters boot them out this year. They've had their chance--two years of "change." Now our economy is in the tank and people have lost big money. Yep, it's change we can believe in! /sarc
I like how a slightly higher percentage of women support it than men. Ann Coulter has said before that despite what the feminists say, men (particularly those age 18-30) are more supportive of abortion rights than women. Of course, if you think about it, it does make sense why young men would be more supportive of abortion: An easy way out of responsibility.
