I've lived through some turbulent years of American history, but I have never seen our country more polarized, more divided, more ripe for dare I say it? breakup, dissolution, a secessionist movement. I admit I'm unafraid of radical ideas if those radical ideas are just, righteous, moral and godly. I believe it's time for radical ideas just as it was time in 1776. Frankly, I don't see a way to unite a people as divided as Americans are today. We are trying to pretend we're one nation when we are really two. One of those two nations clings to the promises and covenants of the past, the Bible, the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, as the guiding principles. The other believes in and lives with no immutable standards. It's not a Republican vs. Democrat split as the current election illustrates. I know many Republicans would find themselves more comfortable in the country of no standards. I also suspect many Democrats would actually find themselves more at home in the nation of the Bible, Declaration and Constitution. Isn't it time for separation? Is the breakup of the union really such a difficult thing to consider?
Isn't it time for separation? Is the breakup of the union really such a difficult thing to consider? When there are no new lands to discover, what choice do we have?
....
There's only one way to recapture the greatness of America. That is to start over with only those willing to play by the rules. Let those who don't believe in rules have their own country to destroy.

How about this flag? http://www.crwflags.com/fotw/images/u/us-gonz.gif
The thought has crossed my mind many times. The civil war is coming, hopefully I will be gone by then[I’m 46].
For fun, what would you call the new country? Workersland?
I have no concept of taking what I did not work for. I must be from another country, no, another planet!!
Thanks
While my head might nod in agreement, my heart is heavy at the thought. I’m a southerner, born and raised...the South is still recovering from the Civil War, and old hurts don’t die they just fester deeper under the skin. And, the patriot in me despairs that the flag my ancestors and I have defended in uniform would be so split again in a similar fashion. No, I say fight on, fight on, fight on. Never surrender, never give up. My children deserve better from me than for me to give up! We must stay true to our constitution and demand that our representatives do the same. We must continue to work at this republic that we love and cherish. I will NOT hand it over to these scoundrels! All of the USA is worth fighting for!
And, since we have the guns, we will eventually take it back. I'll be behind enemy lines in occupied New Jersey, an aging sleeper agent!
Its going to happen sooner or later. Bank on it! The only real question is ballot box or ammo box.
Secession is fighting for the country. It’s undoing the damage one state at a time.
When the communist takeover is complete, there will be nobody left to fight. We’ll be crushed.
Good plan. I already escaped from the PRNJ and came to Texas, FA (Free America - for those not familiar with "Red Dawn"). I do have family that will likely be refugees in the event of a split, and we Jews already have experience picking up everything and moving from a land of slavery and worship of the ruler to a free land.
What part of “Protect and Defend the Constitution of the USA against all enemies foreign and domestic” do you cowards not understand?
We'll need better border controls to keep out the infiltrators.
Free America
The democrats would change that line to “One world community, under Obama, religion invisible to all”.
Kick out all the illegals, and voila! Room for freedom fighters.
You're right. We need to expel all the illegals to make room for more conservative Americans. ;-)
We’re useless to you in re-education camps.
Pack up and head for Texas. We’ll work on talking California back in good time.
I’ve read 2 1/2 of the “Out of the Ashes” series. The Tri States do not survive, although I gather they are reconstituted later on.
The books were written in the mid-1980’s. I do fear we are at that point, again. However, if not for nuclear war, disease and the decision of most of the military to not chose sides, there would have been no way for Raines and his people to amass all the gold/silver/stones to back their currency or to salvage all the tools and weapons needed to set up a functioning economy.
I am drawn to this sort of novel just to see how the authors manage the logistics. The liberals would rather see the tools rot in Detroit than let one conservative have anything. An extraction/ag economy in the Inter-Mountain West still needs shipping and the unions and Blue states control the ports. Water is scarce in parts of the West. The one underpopulated country I am aware of with a valuable extraction/commodity economy is Australia and they are socialist.
I know that the progressives are aware of this sort of scenario and they would make sure there is a Global currency/monetary policy and economy before they would counterance a conservative society. It would be a handful of folks against the entire world.
While it can be simple to set up parameters in a novel, it is much more difficult in real life. I really fear that we will have to go through some sort of total meltdown and savage decimation of society and individual life before we could rebuild. Most of us would not survive it.Copy of this to Travis McGee for comment. His series seems to me to take a more realistic approach. We are going to have to fight for this nation, IMO.
and I thought that maybe I was the only person in the Country that could not live under a Hussein regime.
What about the good people of those states we leave behind? Are their homes, their businesses, their land not worth fighting for, too? Secession would not end the creep of communism or socialism—it would merely redraw the lines. I am an eternal optimist in that I believe in the eventual desire of mankind for freedom from tyranny and oppression. Those systems would not last—my Bible tells me so! Yes, the way would be bloody to endure, and cost lives and dash hopes and be dreary as h*ll, but I have faith that good would prevail. I dare not give up—what would I ever say to George Washington when I get to heaven? (smile!)
Not cowards, realists. Liberals will never represent my values or beliefs, and in truth, if we are truly believing in the constitution, we absolutely should not expect them to. When this country was founded, morality was shared. It was universal here. The founding fathers could not have forseen immorality here as it is today, ergo, it was unmentioned. Only half the country feels as I do, the other half, is opposite. Both deserve to be represented, neither will be under one country, especially if the Federal Gvt does not stop over stepping states rights altoghether.
