Pollster: McCain's hold on Arizona shrinking
East Valley Tribune ^ | Mary K. Reinhardt

Posted on 10/22/2008 7:41:34 AM PDT by hsmomx3

While picking up a handful of Republicans in McCain's home state may not seem like much, longtime pollster Bruce Merrill expects to see real changes when his surveyors start making calls later this week.

This presidential election poses a host of new challenges for pollsters - including the proliferation of cell phones and early voting. Will Arizona turn blue? Probably not, Merrill predicted, but it could be decidedly purple.

"My guess is that if I took a poll today that McCain would be ahead, maybe, but very slightly," said Merrill, professor emeritus at Arizona State University's Cronkite School of Journalism. "I think it would be a very close race."

I didn’t even think AZ was in play for McCain (notwithstanding that he is their Senator).

Great example of media bias in the headline.
Doesn’t say McCain will take Arizona with large lead.
Nope, his lead is “shrinking” and obama “closes gap”.

Disgusting.

That’s why this paper went down the tubes, laid off 140+ people and is now going to publishing 4 days.

Their hard left turn, turned off subscribers (including myself), who in turn stopped receiving the paper.

No surprise. For the last couple of decades, Arizona has had a huge influx of people from all over the country, many from California, who bring their liberal philosophy along with them and vote accordingly. I used to love Phoenix, but other than my remaining family and friends, the Phoenix I loved is gone.

I wonder if they will run my story.

I plan to run a poll in California next week. I don’t exptect it to go away from the Democrats yet; however, a poll in the future may show that California is unhappy with barrack Hussein Obama and that his lead will diminish considerably. Will McCain have a chance in California? We’ll need to wait til the poll tells us, but I think he just might be able to get within striking distance.

Okay, that’s just retarded.

(Apologies to the developmentally disabled of America, for comparing a pollster to them.)

I doubt he'll lose Arizona, however it is ironic how he screwed the base, supported illegals, looked the other way when Acorn was getting funded, and his best friend is a liberal democrat - Loserman - oh yeah McLame you cant have your cake and eat it to. Thanks to you and Bush we are gonna get the most liberal leftist president and congress in American history. We are here because we thought that their values were equal to ours and they are NOT.

Yet you will continue to hear the RINOs on this board continue to demand that the GOP move the left and abandon their beliefs - all while the dems become more and more like the communist party.

The only hope for our nation lies in people like Joe the plumber and Sarah Palin - the more we elect DC elitists the more we will lose our freedoms.

It is not. Shrinking lead remains a 7% lead.
