Powell choice illogical
Denver Post ^ | 22 oct 08 | Al Knight

Former Secretary of State Colin Powell has had many inspiring moments in his career, but there was nothing inspiring about his tortured endorsement last weekend of Barack Obama.

There were, in fact, so many galling aspects of it that it is hard to know where to begin.

A number of commentators have already noted that Powell is now supporting a candidate who has called the Iraq war one of the biggest foreign policy blunders in recent history. That alleged "blunder" took place with the full support and cooperation of Powell himself. One might think that if he now wishes to support Obama, he ought to apologize for his own career as secretary of state.

Powell has said that race played no part in his decision, but how can that assertion be squared with his overblown language in calling Obama a "transformational" candidate for president? Is Obama transformational because he is only 47? Or because he has so little experience on the national stage? What nonsense!

Once you realize it’s all about race, makes perfect sense.

Powell made his choice. He was disengenuous about the real reasons. Clearly it was not about Palin's level of experience or McCain's judgement, because the candidate he is endorsing is demonstrably much, much worse in both areas.

When you realize this Powell's choice and the reasons become clear

YES TO MCCAIN-PALIN '08 FOR AMERICA

SARAH PALIN DRAWING HUGE CROWDS ALL ACROSS AMERICA

Should there be an 0bama presidency, when (not if) it goes down in flames, there will be a reckoning for these stooges.

All of them will not be able to escape to Russia, China, or Europe.

I could have guessed this sort of thing would happen when he started rapping, an activity reserved for people one quarter his age. It would be like Sarah Palin developing a passion for hopscotch and Barbie dolls.

Of course it's about race - liberals are racists and powell is no exception.

It was funny to hear him state Palin is not ready to become Prez and yet no comment on slo-joe biden and his contuining series of gaffes?

Powell and his racist liberal pals are so transparent....and so evil.

I’m sure that Powell carefully weighed all of the arguments for each candidate, mulled over what would be best for the country, and then cast that all aside and picked the black guy.

How else could Colin possibly stay in the news and get back on the medias good side?

Votes based solely on RACE, no matter what excuse one makes, is still based on RACE.

Colin Powell has come out of his racist closet and from this point ongoing, his opinions will be null and void except among the racists.

Remember, MLK Jr was a REPUBLICAN. Frederick Douglass was a REPUBLICAN. Wresting the Democrat Party of George Wallace by Liberals etc is a JOKE . . . who do they see when they look into the mirror? It surely isn’t MLK, Jr or Douglass. It’s the Bandy Rooster and RACIST George Wallace.

And as a DixieCrat, I can make this statement.

General Colin Luther Powell = Major Disappointment

I understand that he has liberal views, pro-abortion, even favor's 'reasonable gun control' and even supports affirmative action that levels the playing field, without giving a leg up to undeserving persons because of racial issues.
HOWEVER...how can a former general of our great armed forces back an obvious poor leader like Barack Hussein Obama? Then he has the audacity to criticize a sitting Governor for lack of leadership skills? There is no reconciling this...he should have stuck with saying he backed Obama because of their liberal mindsets matched or he felt like Obama deserved the chance based on Affirmative Action.

I hate to be a pessimist, but have the demonrat stooges faced much of a reckoning for the financial mess they gave us or the outrageous energy prices and our dependence upon others for that energy when we have plenty of our own? I guess we'll find out soon, but Pelosi, with her House and Reid's Senate having the lowest approval ratings imaginable, believes they will add more seats to their majorities. I want to believe and I hope for the best, but I am prepared for more of the worst.

Yesterday on a local Chicago radio station (WLS) announced Colin Powell’s choice to support Oboma, and that he will be getting a place in Obama’s cabinet if Obama is elected. So in my humble opinion Powell is looking out for Powell, and is seeking 4 more years in Washington. He is a D.C. whore!

I agree. The American people seem to be asleep.

When the enemy Democrat Socialist (soon to be communist) Party is in total control, and the bottom falls out from beneath us, a civil war will break out.

After the winner has become obvious, the losers will pay with their lives.

Be it them, or us.

I wish "US" well.

This year I will give any black person slack for supporting one of their "own".....just like Catholics supported JFK and Mormons, Mitt.....

Buts lets be honest about it....

This is the LAST time I am giving slack....from now on, you're racist if you vote for someone because his color matches yours....

Powell is so irrevelant its not even funny....mark my words, he will regret the day he did it....he will be a laughing stock and he will be crawling back to the arms of the people that actually respected him at one time....

AND WON'T HE BE PISSED WHEN MCCAIN PULLS OUT THE WIN OF THE CENTURY......

I respected him at one time....wrote a letter to him back in the 90's about how we NEEDED him to run for president....

this was years before he essentially said the most important person of influence at the time was not Reagan, but Gorbachev....

lets all face it....the military as in regular life is not fair....some people get promoted for no other reason than they "fit" in with their bosses or look pretty or play golf well or are drinking buddies with the boss....I suspect Powell is one of those that fit a certain agenda for the bosses...

An email that I received today:

DEMOCRATS DENOUNCE GENERAL COLIN POWELL AS A "HOUSE NEGRO"

Democrats now love General Colin Powell, but spewed out the most vile, racist attacks on Powell before he endorsed Obama.Al Sharpton: General Colin Powell is a "House Negro" - A video that was shot by WKRN Video Journalist Beau Fleenor at Tennessee State University in Nashville, Tennessee shows Al Sharpton denigrating General Colin Powell as a "House Negro." The Question: "Rev. Al Sharpton, do you believe that political leaders such as Condoleezza Rice and Colin Powell are viewed as "house negroes" by other African Americans, by going along with the President against their beliefs?"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rdVjrBY5-F0

Harry Belafonte: General Colin Powell is a "House Negro" - An article that appeared in a Portland, Oregon paper was one of many exposing how hardly a ripple of protest was made by black Democrats when Harry Belafonte publicly denounced General Colin Powell as a "House Negro."
