Comeback still possible but McCain faces uphill struggle

WASHINGTON - Barack Obama enjoys a lead in the polls with only two weeks to go before the US presidential vote, but experts say the race for the White House is not yet over with a comeback by John McCain still possible.

Pundits and pollsters, however, agree that Democrat Obama is now the odds-on favorite to win, with his Republican rival facing daunting prospects.

"At this point the chances for a landslide by Senator McCain are very slim," said Peter Brown, assistant director of the Quinnipiac University Polling Institute.

"He trails in most polls in the mid-to-high single digits. Any comeback win would almost certainly be a squeaker."

Hoping to prevent a potential McCain come-from-behind victory, Obama has warned against complacency at his rallies, urging supporters take advantage of early voting rules in Florida and other key states.

Studies show about one in five voters remain undecided or ready to change their preference. The McCain camp is pinning its hopes on these voters.

"You would give the higher probability to Obama winning because he's been ahead in every poll over the last several weeks that we've done," said Frank Newport, managing editor of the Gallup Poll.

"But it's close enough under certain turnout scenarios that you can't rule out that McCain will win," Newport told the Chicago Tribune.

In 1980, Ronald Reagan had been trailing Democratic President Jimmy Carter in opinion polls as late as October but pulled off a landslide victory when voters went to the polls in November.

Reagan's case differs markedly from this year's campaign, as the Republican had a chance to distinguish himself from his rival in a debate televised only a week before the election.

Obama has constantly equated McCain to Bush.

Why shouldn't McCain/Palin be equating Obama to Pelosi--- and her 9% Democrat Congressional approval rating?

And where is the ad stating americans won’t hear the word “veto” for four years in an Obama administration?

Those ads are somewhere back in the 20th century. Mac simply ran the wrong campaign at the wrong time.

Not if the Jewish voters figure out what Rimshot Joe was talking about at those fundraisers last weekend. A dollar to a donut that Obama and the boys have been briefed by the intelligence boys that the Muzzies intend to knock out Israel as soon as “That One” sits his Chicago ass down in the Oval Orifice. Obuma has already made up his mind that he will allow the Muzzies to have at them. Hence the “low poll ratings.” IMHO.

Now the pollsters are beginning the process of hedging their bets.

Because only 15% of Americans know who Pelosi is. I believe very recently over half of all Americans still thought Republicans controlled congress. My idiot liberal friend doesn’t even know the number of seats it takes for a filibuster.

They’ll know her well enough once the three stooges start destroying America if Obama takes over.

Honestly folks, I don't think we are aware of the degree to which we are witnessing the swan song of the major MSM players in 2008.

The network news programs are sinking.  One or more of them will be gone in four years.  If they aren't, it won't matter.  Their influence will be destroyed.  Major newspapers will fail by 2012.  The memory of those propagandist organizations will live on in infamy.  This is it, the fat lady is singing.  Most folks are so preoccupied with the level of propaganda, they are failing to ask the question why this level of it?  Why destroy your credibility?  Why?  Because it doesn't matter any more.  It's now or never for many of them.  They won't get a chance to help turn this nation into the U.S.S.R., next time around.  Do it now, or give up ever doing it.  Like that would every happen.

So go ahead ABC, give it your best shot.  Try to corrupt the election.  Lie your ass off.  Fudge the polls as well as the U.S.public.  Have your fun.  It's over.

92% FReepers!  Makes you wanna chip in and put us over the top doesn't it...

You’re correct, I read this and get down. I just need to remember to vote and not worry. In the end, it will be ok.

It's either that or the MSM are so brazen that by coming out and saying they are for the left, they know it won't affect the population's choice, in fact, the population would respect their candor and honesty. The media are paying money to line up for Obama, which tells me they see it as an honor and privilege. To think that way means this generation of the MSM are so corrupt, so luxuriant that they don't see their position weakening any time soon. If they actually had to earn a living reporting the news, they'd never do it — no money in it.

I don’t honestly know how this sucker is going to turn out. I have a hard time believing the majority of voters could possibly see Obama as a sound choice for president. That being the case, I’m betting the media is screwing the public over more right now than it ever has before.

Why stress over it? If they pull it off, the nation loses. That will do more to discredit the left than you or I could have done in 75 years.

It may be the running in circles of their own kind, that blinds them. All I know is that they are indeed an endangered species, as far as the propaganda thing goes.

If the right is smart, it will start producing clean, funny, shows promoting good Conservative values on the internet. We can do an end run on the major networks.

To tell the truth, with HBO and Showtime going down the sewer, it’s about time to shake up the whole paradigm.

I know, I know, I know - the MSM/Drivebys see the election as being over. And they dare the American people to defy them!

When is the right going to get this ? This is NOT a national election. The Presidency is won STATE BY STATE.... GET OUT THE VOTE IN YOUR AREA. ACORN and the DEMONCRATS have gotten this .... National polls don’t mean anything when it comes to the Electoral College. The 2000 election was won in FLORIDA and the 2004 Election was won in Ohio.
Wake up RIGHTIES!!!

Sheeze!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
