The presidential race in West Virginia continues to hold steady as John McCain leads Barack Obama 52% to 43%, according the latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey.
The latest poll is little changed from September, when McCain led his opponent 50% to 42%. The Republican also had an eight-point lead in the state back in June.
McCain holds a dominant lead among unaffiliated voters in West Virginia, 57% to 36%. He also leads 55% to 42% among men and 49% to 43% among women.
Rasmussen Markets data shows that Republicans are given a 60.1 % chance of winning West Virginias five Electoral College votes this fall.
McCain is viewed favorably by 60% of West Virginia voters and unfavorably by 38%. Obamas numbers are 47% favorable, 51% unfavorable.

the one we need to really worry about and work hard on is virginia
60.1% chance, lol, what bull, their Ohio poll yesterday had McCain up in Ohio and they said he had a 30.5% chance of winning Ohio. Rassmussen seems to be making it up this year.
God Bless the Mountaineers, Salt of the Earth.
I wonder how much Bush won WV by?
WV is like OH and Western PA. My guess is McCain wins this state by +12.
To be expected from inbred racists...
0bama’s 57-state strategy continues to go down in flames.
Bush won West Virginia 423,778 to 326,541.
Honestly, WV is in the bag, but I’d like the margin to be more like the 20-25% margin McCain has in states like Oklahoma. I say that because of what you mentioned- WV is like Appalachian parts of OH, PA, VA and NC. McCain needs to pad his lead in Appalachian VA and NC in particular because those states are 20% black.
Wow! Hope this repeats in Virginia too!
I regard to Florida, Charlie Crist has wandered FAR off the reservation. In todays Politico:
Crist was asked about the attacks from many McCain supporters that Obama is advancing a “socialist” agenda.
“I imagine different people have different definitions. I don’t think it looks that way to me,” he said.
This is the second time in two days that Crist has directly contradicted a McCain talking point.
I think he is counting Kenya, where he was born, as a state.
Attention gamblers.. You can get McCain -139 for West Virginia on Sports Interaction!
Bush 56% / Kerry 43%

I thought there was a guy there telling everyone in WV to vote for the black guy because he’s not like the white guys who screwed up D.C.
I agree we don’t need to let up, but Virginia WILL go for McCain.
I guess those electoral maps showing WV a light blue and giving it to Obama had better change their maps!
Yeah. Same Crist who said ACORN fraud was being “blown out of proportions.”
I was in West Virginia this past weekend and what struck me the most was the number of homes with lots of Democratic candidate yard signs. Mixed in with several of these was the lone Republican candidate, John McCain. They are still a somewhat Yellow Dog Dem state, but i think Obama is too much, even for them.
Trying to understand PA, NC, and VA (and OH): blacks all voted for Kerry too, didn’t they? Do we think they will be more motivated to go to the polls for Obama, or did some crossover and vote Bush on 04? Sorry if this is a dumb question.
