This, people, is how this man will run the country: Pay for play. A sitting US senator and would-be president CHARGING the media for access.

The only good news out of this is that the lap-dog media that has done its level best to turn this form an election to a coronation is now seeing exactly what is about to happen: You have all the access you want as log as the money changes hands at the time and in he amounts we demand.

I wonder out loud: Does this money go to the Obama campaign or to the messiah himself? How is this legal--corporations cannot donate directly to campaigns. And it this is not a donation, it's simple fee-for-service. You pay us, you have access to this man.

Welcome to the post-Obama world: A government of one person, for the people who pay for access, by the people who are dumb enough to believe.

Front row seats for the freak show are expensive, you know.

I wonder if the fee includes priority access to the emergency exits, which will be necessary when FNC calls PA for John McCain before the dinner hour has passed...

This is unreal. I hope there is a severe backlash against Obama over this.

Thank you Obama! What a dumba$$! If I were the lame stream media, would tell the moron that we don’t pay to film losers. We are going over to the McCain/Palin HQ to interview the winners!

A spokesman later said that the fees will only pay the costs of, for instance, building risers with a view of the stage.

I wonder what union they're using, and how much they charge to "build a riser"?

How is it that people can attend sporting events in this country for less than $2,000 a ticket?

Obviously election-night events must be planned in advance but the classy way to handle that is to make arrangements discreetly. The Obama campaign is almost flaunting their election-night celebration planning process.

Reading this over for a second time, it doesn’t make much sense. Are they charging to just get in the door? Or for communications facilities? Every reporter I know has a cell phone, most have a wireless laptop; TV and radio equipment has self-contained battery packs, and works through wireless links to a satellite truck parked outside of the venue. No news organization worth its salt needs any help from the facilities, except in the case of, say, a national convention where they might want to set up fixed cameras and have an anchor booth. Maybe they are charging for access to telegraph lines? Or maybe they are offering the media that has so far provided them with so many freebies a chance to donate hard cash as well.

If they charge regular folks to be there, they ought to charge the press.

The alphabet networks can pay as much as they want. I won’t be watching, and I’d like their advertisers to know that in advance.
