This is what Alec Baldwin had to say about the liberal hysteria over Sarah being asked to appear on SNL.
"Saturday Night Live is a comedy show. It's not Meet the Press. It doesn't "ask the tough questions" or "set the agenda." It attempts, with varying degrees of success, to make people laugh. That's it. Whether they skewer and savage people in order to do so, they don't care. When you come on a show like that, you are prepared in advance to get worked over. Palin knew that. Palin came on to be a good sport. And she was. She was polite, gracious. (More so than some of the famous actors who come through there, believe me.)"
"However, I assume that, like Meet the Press, SNL feels an obligation to offer their special forum to any and all public figures and officials who are current. Headline making. And in SNL's case, would make for a hit show. Several people decried SNL for giving her a spot on the show. You're kidding, right? The woman is the Vice Presidential nominee of one of the two major parties in this country. Don't put her on SNL? With all of her exposure and the Tina Fey performance? What reality are you in?"
"If you think an appearance on Saturday Night Live would sway voters and actually effect the outcome of the election, you may have more contempt for the electorate of this country than the Republican National Committee does. And that's a lot of contempt."
Of course, he did get the last jab in about the RNC...but what did you expect?
He almost made it but Democratic Derangement Syndrome prevented it.
As Palin said, Stephen is still my favorite Baldwin.
“No matter what you think of the guy, you got to give credit where credits due...”
He suggested beating conservatives and their families to death with rocks.
He’s a liar, a slime, and a bad actor.
He should speak of his daughter in such polite terms......
Many epiphanies are slow, contrary to common belief. ;-)
ya know, with his open statement on that talk show nailing the democrats as being responsible for the Fannie Mae crisis, and this honest statement, I almost like the guy again...
Well, Alex--you mind if I call you Alex? Well, Alex, you had me up 'til there. Oh well, good effort, though.
Again, he was gracious and gave his time and talents to the charity event I was at. He was quite the gentleman.
Give it a little time and we can refer to him as Bald one.
I think he may have a point on that one. They are doing the crummiest job.
Palin was a good sport? Well, if SNL is a game - Palin won.
Great business decision on Lorne's part. Actually, of the three of them, Lorne, Palin and Baldwin, Lorne did the worst. Maybe there were Secret Service behind that desk he was leaning on. Or Todd Palin with a rifle.
I am certain Alec Baldwin lurks here, just as some freepers lurk at DU. I am also almost certain that he and Joe Biden go to the same incompetent quack for their Botox injections.
Don’t agree with him either politically or how he treats his daughter, but there is something very likable about him. However, it looked like he was reading that copy cold didn’t it? It was a bit awkward for an experienced actor - Palin did better delivering her lines!
SNL definitely affects voting.
Bush probably won based on his handling of SNL in 2000.
Palin definitely helped the campaign big on Saturday night. She demonstrated courage and poise.
Baldwin is just trying to minimize the damage.
Why else would Chevy Chase be blowing a gasket about this today?
Alec used his ex-wife Kim as a punching bag. Basinger’s father supposedly wanted to kill him.
His treatement of his daughter was marginally better.
