The leader of the national anti-Obama movement, legendary Chicago Internet columnist and Obama author Andy Martin, will hold a Honolulu news conference today, October 20, 2008 to announce he has asked the Hawai’i Supreme Court to entertain an emergency writ expediting the release of Senator Barack Obama’s secret birth records.
A copy of the Petition will be posted on Martin’s blogs later today after it is docketed by the Supreme Court. The Hawai’i Supreme Court petition supplements and expands on a lawsuit filed Friday, October 18th in the Circuit Court of Hawai’i.
Martin is due back in New York on Friday, October 24th for network television interviews.
Any time "wasted" could have been prevented by Obama's compliance.

And you think Obama cares about the wasted time of Corsi, Berg and everyone else on that wagon? Do you honestly think there are any serious number of voters who would change their vote if only he produced his birth certificate? Would you?
I am not sure that people on this site do take Andy Martin or Phillip Berg seriously. However, I think they are starting to take this issue seriously.
As far as I can tell, Obama has a legit birth certificate and I have even seen clips on the internet announcing his birth from an issue of the Honolulu Register circa 1961.
How can you tell? I assume you have not seen a birth certificate for Obama. I have seen pixels on a computer screen which could be interpreted as depicting a birth certificate, but that is not the same thing as seeing a birth certificate. Further, I have seen some cogent comments tending to the conclusion that the image of a birth certificate which Obama's staff posted on the internet has been edited or tampered with. I really can't tell, but what raises questions is that Obama should be able to put this matter to bed quickly and easily, but he has not done so.

As far as I can tell, with his mother being a natural born citizen and his dad being a legal emigre, that no one can seriously claim that he was not an american citizen at birth.
The exact meaning of the phrase "natural born citizen" in the Constitution has not been tested before. Many people are arguing that the meaning can be taken from the statute which was in effect at the time Obama was born. However, I am dubious of this. I do not think that a statute can amend the Constitution. The term has its own meaning within the Constitution, and Congress cannot change that meaning by statute.
But the fact remains, no one has showed any real evidence that he was not born inside the territory of the United States.
In fact, there is such evidence, even though I would not regard it as conclusive. I understand that there are hearsay statements allegedly by members of Obama's father's family that Obama was born in Kenya, and that he was taken to Hawaii shortly after birth and his birth "registered" there. Apparently, there is also a statement by Obama that he traveled to Pakistan on an Indonesian passport. In any event, once the question is raised, the burden is on Obama to show that he meets the Constitutional requirement for the office he is seeking.
Seeing as Obama is going to be “off the campaign” trail to visit his sick Grandmother for the next two days - it makes me seriously wonder...<<<

My first thought was that he wanted to be out of town when the court date came up today, so the attorney could ask for it to be held until after the election.

Obama doesn't have to do squat. Again - what standing does this guy have? probably none. This is going nowhere.
If he’s bogus, does the he think the media will give him a pass after the election? On second thought the probably will. Who will speak up if they worry about the hulking shadows over their bed one night. This whole deal is going to turn into something very gross. Obama doesn’t have the judeo-christian ethic base to guide his decisions. He purely machavellian. People will intimidate, maim and kill in his name. He’s going for pure political power, the likes we haven’t seen since Roosevelt or more accurately, Lincoln.
Requirements contained in the U.S. Constitution are mandatory and a citizen has a constitutional right to have a constitutionally qualified person as president.
It doesn't say anything in the Constitution about a candidate having to specifically provide anything. Presidential candidates have not been submitting birth certificates in order to run for office. Name one case. So if you wish to challenge it in court at this point - go ahead and lets see how far you get. Out of all the smart people in this country so far no one has made a dent on this issue thus far. Its hard to believe from my perspective but here we are.

The comments on this thread about burden of proof have to do with what Obama should be required to do logically and morally, and one might also say legally. The failure of the responsible authorities to require reasonable proof doesn’t alter the fact that it is the candidate who ought to be able to prove his ability to meet the requirements. No voter should have to sue and endure endless procedural delays and difficulties. It shouldn’t be their burden.

If no one has ever questioned the eligibility of a candidate in earlier elections, that has no impact when the question does arise.
While I agree with you on the last point from a theoretical standpoint the reality is no Presidental candidates have submitted birth certificates to run for President. There is no process to force Obama to do anything. To me this should have been like the swiftboat situation. There should have been enough internet attention to put pressure on Obama. But that hasn’t happened. We have less than 2 weeks. tick tick tick
