A new Zogby poll of Hispanic voters says Barack Obama is clobbering John McCain, 70-21 percent.
That's about half of the 40 percent George Bush won in 2004, and matches the recent low-point for Republicans in 1996, when Bob Dole collected just 21 percent of Hispanics' votes on the way to a drubbing at the hands of Bill Clinton.

The difference is that it comes for a candidate who, more than any other Republican on the national stage, can claim to have tried to win Hispanics. Early in his congressional career McCain supported what at the time he called amnesty, opposed English-only efforts was telling Arizona Republicans to look to Hispanics for their future. He was so eager to win Hispanic votes he actually voted against the 1986 amnesty because he felt the work verification requirements were too harsh to Hispanics.
My my, Juan has been a busy pro-amnesty Congress critter for quite some time.
Losing Hispanics by that margin would be a giant setback for those like McCain who want to see legalization, since it will only add more evidence to those such as Tom Tancredo who argue Republicans will never be able to outbid Democrats on the issue.
Outpandering the Democrats...what strategery!

I agree...that was stupid.
But, there is a bright side: Thanks to Joe The Plumber, more people are beginning to see what his opponent's economic policy stands for and they really don't like it very much.
...And remember...we all know who these Pollsters are going out and talking to, and it isn't a great deal of Republicans.

The idea that Republicans could ever win a permanent majority with hispanics was a terrible one. All the pro-amnesty Bush/McCain type policies ensure is that the party will no longer be able to compete nationally as is a generation from now. These tens of millions who we have let stay are having children at a crazy rate. Those kids will be voters before too long and they will go to whichever party promises them most free stuff. That’ll be the libs. Or a Republican party that has moved as far left as the Dems. Either way by allowing so many people to stay long enough to start producing so many citizens, we have ensured that the party will slide into irrelevancy.

Hey, we live in southern NM, and my kids go to school with alot of hispanic kids.
My 6th grade son came home a few days ago and said 3 hispanic girls were talking about the election. He said one said: “My mom said she is voting for John McCain because the black people take all the welfare.” Her words, NOT mine.

You got it - The McCain camp is pathetic - I could care less any longer if the man wins after seeing his only TV ad here in the State of NC (I say this as someone who will have to serve under a CinC Obama).....But for McCain to be running a new TV in NC where he starts it off by saying "I know the last EIGHT years have not been good".....Taking a shot at President GWB, with all the man has handled as POTUS / CinC......
No, he doesn't say the past TWO years since DEMs have taken control (to hammer the point home of inept DEM leadership) but instead once again attacks his own party and this fine man in GWB..... To hell with him.
McCain is a man that stands for nothing philosophy wise, who is watching his own CFR putting a rope around his neck (and all of the GOP).....while Obama spends circles around him....laughing all the way...
This ad, attacking the last 8 years and not at all attacking the DEM congress (Pelosi, Reid, Obama)...Enough....McCain is an old fool who is likely about to get trounced come Nov 5th...

I am also in Southern NM and talk to many Hispanics- the ones I talk to say they don’t trust Obama. They don’t say they will vote for McCain either. I drove all around Cruces yesterday and did not see one Obama sign, I only saw a few McCain signs. I get the impression the Hispanics aren’t thrilled with either candidate. I did notice a few yards full of Democrat campaign signs- that were missing the Obama sign.

A good buddy of mine is of Mexican decent. His dad, uncle and 83 year old grandpa are all voting McCain. When my friend told his grandpa yesterday that Powell endorsed 0bama the grandpa just said “really? well they're both black.”

we all know who these Pollsters are going out and talking to, and it isn't a great deal of Republicans This should not be much of a surprise. The huge majority of Hispanic immigrants come from corrupt autocratic socialist Yanqui-hating sh*t-holes. They naturally will feel at home and comfortable with the Obamanoids.

While McCain championed for the illegals previously, he has since given lipservice to enforcement and now the Latino’s know that Obama and a dem congress will bring them an unimpeded path to legalization and citizenship much sooner.
This topic hasn’t played much of a role in the election, but mark my words, Obama will legalize them and turn millions into enough dem voters to assure the end of the repub party.
