NEW York Republicans are not too thrilled at the idea of Sarah Palin as their vice presidential candidate. The other night, private equity firm New Mountain Capital held a debate between James Carville and Karl Rove at Stone Rose in the Time Warner Center. When the moderator asked the 200 Republicans in the room how many were comfortable with Palin becoming president if something were to happen to John McCain, "only one man raised his hand," an attendee reports. Meanwhile, "Rove repeatedly ignored the moderator's request to stay within the time limits." Our source also said Carville drew laughs when he cracked, "People are talking about a 3 a.m. call to the White House. McCain is 72 years old. I'm 65. I know where he'll be at 3 a.m. He'll be in the bathroom."

REPUBLICANS?? In New York???
I guess there might be one or two or so, but this stretches the imagination.
My guess is they are a bunch of political wannabes like Bloomberg who are willing to change their labels - but not their philosophies - for another crack at office.
“a bunch of liberals have commandeered the party!”
A lot of them helped bring us the WS crisis, they are afraid she wouldn’t bail them out and they might loose their Park Avenue addresses.
As if this means anything.
None of those people in the audience were conservatives.
These are the people who thought it was a great idea for Rudy to be president.
Not a wise soul in the bunch except the one lone conservative left in NY.
My NYC friends are living under the strongest propaganda bubble I’ve ever witnessed. It’s stronger there than my friends in LA and SF report.
We know where Sarah will be at 3:00 AM-—the all-important job of feeding little Trig. And if she needs to tackle other things like opening the nuclear football, well, she can do that too.
No, but it may be on Nov 5th.
I saw some chick, probably thought she was cool, had a white tshirt with a silhouette of McCain with the word “OLD” under it.
I wonder how a shirt with 0bama on it with the word “BLACK” under it would go over.
I’ve noticed that any form of bigotry is allowed as long as the target is a conservative/republican.
You are sadly correct about “anything goes” if it’s a conservative Repub. Those filthy t-shirts about Sarah Palin were beyond the pale.
Imagine 4 years of the Dem psychos in charge of DC. They have no sense of when they are going over the line and the media covers for them.
Good one!
LLS
They keep talking about game changers. That would be it.
Who is experienced? Unfortunately, there are only four people on the tickets, and Palin is the only one who has experience.
I wonder what the response would have been if the moderator asked the Reps in the room how comfortable they would be with Obama being the President versus Palin.
What experience do they have? They've been in the Senate for 20+ and 30+ years? The U.S has always considered Senate to be poor (or worse) material for presidency.
T. Roosevelt and G Cleveland were two term presidents with two years as governor.
Why do you think Powell dislikes here? Last week he testified that Sen. Porkbarrel Stevens was as clean as driven snow. Of course, he dislikes the antidote to GOP corruption in Alaska.
