US warship 'catches fire in Persian Gulf'
PressTV ^
Posted on 10/20/2008 11:08:24 AM PDT by esryle
A vessel belonging to the US Navy has reportedly caught fire in the northern Persian Gulf near the Iraqi port cities of Al-Bakr and al-Amaya.
Informed military sources said on Monday that the UN Navy had secretly moved the vessel to the coasts of Kuwait after the fire broke out, Iran's Arabic-language TV channel Al-Alam reported.
The sources did not rule out the possibility that a blast had started the fire on the vessel that was said to be "one of the four US warships in the region," the report added.
The US military has not yet commented on the report.

Iranian reports? This may turn out to be a Hungarian ship transporting humanitarian aid pulling in to port for equipment repairs.

Shhhhh... Don't tell anybody about the ultra secret program where the US has sent 1000 mullahs undercover to Iran to infiltrate the country. They are all equipped with 'invisible strings' and metal rings, just like the pigeons.
If we're not careful enough and the secret gets out, the Iranians may start hauling in their mullahs for interrogations, torture, and even executions. Shhhhhh...

Regardless of the cause, Fire on a ship is a very frightening thing indeed. Roger that. Felt that feeling. My ship felt small enough already, at only 210ft, but the day I had to announce "Now! Fire Fire Fire! Class Bravo fire has been reported in the engine room!.... " was a singularly frightening experience. My already-small ship suddenly felt like a zodiac with a campfire in it. Very fortunately for us, the crew responded quickly and effectively and got it out pretty quick (though it seemed like an eternity of course).
So yah, fire on a ship will mess up the whole day.

Actually, I think Bush would go postal.
I've been praying for that for the past four damn years.

So have I on other matters, but in this type of an incident, I think he would. Still North Korea rages on. I can’t explain it all away. It boggles the mind truthfully. I’m just waiting for the comment, “We didn’t have any idea this could happen”, when Korea or Iran finally does something calamitous.

The author can’t properly type “US Navy.” UN Navy? I pray that the world will never see the day that the United Nations has its own naval forces.

As a Navy Mom I understand the seriousness of a ship fire, not trying to make light, but, umm, how exactly do you “arrest” a pigeon? And how, exactly, does an aircraft carrier do anything “secretly” in the Persian Gulf? I’m just sayin.

Yeah, but I think everyone wanted to cut him some slack because he wasn't even 4 months in the Oval Office, and after 9/11, he showed signs of being on the right track, but unfortunately lost his way and his spine after the 2004 election.

"I didn't know the UN had a Navy. "They don't YET. But we better make sure Obama never sets foot in the Whitehouse or that could happen.
